Emergency Patch For Windows! 🚨
Microsoft on Tuesday released an emergency windows update to patch a critical vulnerability called “PrintNightmare” CVE-2021-34527. This vulnerability allows hackers to install programs, view, change and delete data; or create new accounts on compromised machines!
Microsoft urges to apply the patches as soon as possible, however there are allegations that the patch still has not dealt with the vulnerability fully under some scenarios. It is still advised to patch your devises but with CAUTION ⚠️ There have been reports of problems when applying the patch.
Patches should be tested in a separate environment before releasing to production.
Make sure you have layered security. Some Intrusion Detection Systems are able to block the traffic before it makes it to your machines. Some Gen2 antivirus software may be able to identify the behavior of an exploit and detect/remediate. This gives you time to test, patch, or apply a proper solution.
If you are not our client check with your security vendors or IT staff to make sure your environment is protected.
