Meet the team Friday!

Meet Trip Pognant, VP of Application Development. Trip's focus is ensuring our clients are operationalizing the products and services we deliver so they can realize the value they imagined at the start of their data journey.

When Trip is not behind his desk, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and kids. Trip wears a lot of hats, and some of those forms lately has been coaching his kids athletic teams, teaching them to fish or taking them camping. One cool fact about Trip is he and his family run a little family homestead; raising chickens, pigs and sheep! Trip is also an avid UGA and Bracves fan.

Go-live isn’t the finish line. It’s the start of a 90-day window where your clinical data is still converting, your billing team is running two systems, and the person at your EHR vendor who guided your implementation is about to hand you off to someone new. On top of that, the IT, security, and reporting questions that nobody raised during the sales process are going to start surfacing. Here’s what to expect and when.

Go-live day feels like the end of a long process. You’ve been through demos, contract negotiations, implementation, training, and now the switch is done. Your team is in the new system.

But for the next 90 days, there’s a lot happening underneath that most practices don’t see coming. And the reason it catches people off guard is that nobody walks them through what the EHR post-go-live period looks like before they get there.

Meet Maddie!
Maddie started as a delivery coordinator on the data conversions team. She has since expanded her role there to include some business/data analyst work. Maddie also transitioned to a delivery coordinator on the insights team, so she splits her time between conversions and insights.
Maddie has been at Focus for over 2 years. When Maddie isn't keeping teams on track, she likes to go on runs with her 2 dogs, watch movies or the Brewers or the Bucks, read, crochet, and sew!

If you’re getting ready to switch to a new EHR system, you’ve probably got a detailed EHR implementation plan from your vendor. They’re handling the training, the system configuration, and the technical setup to get your team ready for go-live, the day you officially switch from your old system to the new one.

But there’s a separate set of things that need to be in place before that day, and most of them aren’t part of the vendor’s plan. They’re on the data conversion side, and they’re the things that tend to surface as surprises during or after the switch because nobody flagged them for you ahead of time.

Mark's focus is making sure we're helping our clients navigate change, embrace new technologies and build a strong foundation for the future. When Mark isn't bringing innovative solutions to healthcare organizations, you can find him outdoors. He enjoys running, hiking, and traveling in his camper van with his wife and dogs. Mark is happiest when he's exploring somewhere in the mountains, spending time outside, tackling yard projects or relaxing with a Brewer game on. Mark has multiple accolades, but he is greatest achievement is seeing his three children thrive in college, grad school and their careers and he often catches himself wondering how he got so lucky.

Meet Samantha MacDonald! Samantha has been with Focus for 5 years. She started as a Delivery Coordinator then switched to a BA/QA role. In October, Samantha was promoted to overseeing and managing the delivery on all conversion projects and providing support and leadership to her team. In her spare time, Samantha loves spending time with her family. Whether it's riding bikes, golfing, disc golfing, swimming or playing board games, Samantha's two boys and husband of 13-years keep her on her toes. When Samantha isn't enjoying the outdoors with her family, she's reading and perfecting her baking techniques. Thank you Samantha, for all your hard work and your dedication to the Focus team!

The first week, you're live on the new system and your team is documenting there. But your clinical records from before the switch aren't in the new system yet. Your old vendor still needs to extract that data. They won't do it until your providers have signed off and closed out their charts in the old system. So right now your team is keeping two tabs open. New system for everything going forward, old system for any historical chart notes.
