The news is out, and its all true. Roxx Electrocafe takes its final bow this weekend, and we're having a constant blowout party in the meantime. Corey here, and I, personally, would like to thank everyone who was a part of the Roxx family, who bled with us as we pushed ourselves up hills and over mountains, and who gave all the things they could to the store. Having been with this company since the first Roxx, letting go a second time was never something any of us wanted to do, but forces have acted that are well and truly beyond our control. I know that I, not to mention everyone else at the store, will continue to lean on the friendships that I have built during my time at Roxx, as you guys are some of the best people a fellow could hope to know. There is still a lot of work left to do as we shutter our doors and make way for What Comes After, but with a last hurrah of help from you, we can make this a last weekend to remember. Roxx is dead, long live Roxx.

The following is the email sent out to our entire mailing list, and it has a significant number of important details, so its worth a read.

Well, this is it, folks. This is the last weekend ROXX will be open to the public. We are shutting our doors permanently on Tuesday.

First, I would like to thank all of our wonderful customers who have entered into and enriched our lives. For a lot of us, ROXX is family. It was always more than a business to us. It was comeraderie, friendship, and shared friendship. For all you have done for us, thank you.
This weekend will be the last weekend we will be open. To commemorate this (and to reduce stock), we will be offering everything at 50% off or at cost. Also, we will be offering FREE GAMING on our PCs all weekend (subject to availability). If you haven't visited for a while or are a daily regular, take a moment this weekend to say goodbye and to relive good memories.
On Monday we will be having something of an "everything must go" sale. We'll be selling PCs, TVs, furniture, equipment. No *reasonable* offers will be refuse d. This sale starts at noon and ends at 5PM. After that we shut our doors for good and start the process of clearing out the store and vacating the premesis.
Again, thank you all for the memories we've shared and created together.

Hey Roxx people! THIS IS IMPORTANT!

As of Sunday, August 19, we are changing the way that we price our gaming hours. We don't like change, because its scary, but trust us, this one is pretty important and necessary. Please give these changes a read (but if you have to, see our tl;dr at the end at least)

It all boils down to this:

1. Gaming hours will now cost BASIC members $3 an hour. REGULAR members (previously known as "copper members") will be charged $2 an hour.
2. All day passes will cost BASIC members $15. REGULAR members will stay at $10 for a day pass.
3. We will no longer be doing the "turn in 4 rewards points for a free hour" deal. Our punch cards are performing that function and will remain the same. A full punch card will give you a free all day pass. Every two hours you buy will give you one punch on the punch card. An all day pass will give you 4 punches.
4. A regular membership will cost you $20. This means that you will make up the cost of this membership after 20 hours of gaming (that's 2 free all day passes in punchcard redemptions...a value of $30).
5. For our hardcore gamers, we have a new deal. For $50 you can come in for the next 30 days and game all you want. All day, every day, if you want. Its equivalent in all day passes for regular members is $300. That's 1/6th the price. This is ONLY available for regular members. Basic members won't have this option.

For old members who are wondering, there are no longer "copper, silver and gold" memberships. There's only the two levels, Basic which is free, and Regular, which gives you the pricing benefits named above.

Why are we doing this? As you may have noticed, our huge 72" TV is gone, due to wear and tear. Also, we're down to 10 computers from our original 12. Technology is expensive to replace. We've also had to replace mice and keyboards, add new games at $60 a license. What we're doing with ALL memberships bought at Roxx and the $1 additional fee on Basic members is putting that money in a fund to replace tech that has worn out, and buy new AAA games that we all want to play together. Any profits we get from these changes will go DIRECTLY to our LAN Gaming to improve your experience playing and to expand our game offerings so you have more choice.

tl;dr - If you have a copper membership currently, NOTHING CHANGES. If you purchase a copper membership, aka a "regular membership," NOTHING CHANGES. We need to keep our gaming rigs running in good condition, and that means replacing older equipment. So for those of you WITHOUT a regular membership, we'll be charging a small amount extra that will go DIRECTLY into new gaming equipment.

Thank you so much for understanding, and for gaming with us!
