She wasn’t supposed to be there.
The abandoned garden had been closed for years—at least that’s what everyone in town said. Rusted gate, broken stone path, wild grass swallowing what used to be something beautiful. People walked past it like it didn’t exist anymore.
But something about that place kept pulling her back.
That morning, she pushed the gate open with hesitation, hearing the faint scream of metal that hadn’t moved in a long time. The air inside felt different… heavier, like it was holding onto memories it wasn’t ready to release.
And then she saw it.
A bouquet of flowers.
Perfectly placed in the center of the garden.
Impossible. Fresh. Alive.
Like someone had just left it moments ago.
Her breath caught in her throat as she stepped closer. The roses were tied with a simple ribbon, no name, no note—just silence wrapped in color. The kind of silence that doesn’t feel empty… it feels intentional.
Her fingers trembled as she reached for it, but she stopped when she noticed something beneath the flowers.
A small engraved question on a weathered stone:
“If you found something beautiful that was never meant to be found… would you still take it, knowing it might change everything you believe about your past?”
Her heart started to race.
Because somehow… she felt like that question wasn’t just written for anyone.
It was written for her.
Memories she couldn’t fully explain began to surface—half-forgotten laughter, a voice calling her name, a feeling she once had but buried deep enough to survive life without it.
The garden wasn’t empty.
It was waiting.
As the wind moved through the overgrown roses, she stood there longer than she planned, feeling like the answer was already living inside her… she just hadn’t dared to say it out loud yet.
And for the first time in years, she wasn’t sure if she had discovered the garden…
Or if the garden had finally found her.
