At long range, a link will drop: someone walks in front of the antenna, a truck passes, the signal fades.

The real test is recovery. The published RFOXiA Connect app now detects a sudden drop and restores the long-range link automatically, so the user never has to reconnect by hand.

Range is a system property, not a chip property.

That's why our long-range BLE module has a detachable antenna instead of a fixed chip antenna. Out of the box it runs a 4+ dBi omni. Fit a directional antenna for point-to-point links, or a different form factor to suit your enclosure.

We keep our numbers honest. 4.6 km is what we measured ground to ground, line of sight, on a highway. Ground to drone (20 km+) and drone to drone (50 km+) are expected because there's less ground reflection, and we haven't tested them yet.

Batteries or supercapacitors for field gear?

Embedded folks: what would you add or change first?

Why does fix rate matter? At 1 Hz, a rover doing 5 m/s moves 5 m between fixes. At 18 Hz it moves under 30 cm.

Our GNSS module tracks all constellations at once for 1.5 m accuracy at 18 Hz, and the RFOXiA Connect app shows it on a live map over the long-range BLE link.
