I’m the guy on the right. 😊
I am adding Bitcoin & other blockchain educational consulting services (not financial advice) to my Clear Lake Computer Service portfolio. When Maynard’s grocery store has a Bitcoin ATM and when famous investors, athletes, companies, countries, hedge funds, brokerage firms, CEOs, politicians all hold Bitcoin and other crypto assets, it’s here to stay. Even Janet Yellen, our US Secretary of Treasury, who was once a skeptic, calls crypto “Transformative”. And even with all of that, we are very early. Most compare this to how the Internet was in 95-98.
I did a two-hour class on this a few weeks ago in Sioux Falls, and I hope to put on a class, hopefully in the very near future in Clear Lake. The class would include:
1. Short history of Bitcoin & why it was created
2. Short lesson in History of Money, Economic Systems & Our Current US and World Economic Situation
3. Properties of sound money vs FIAT
4. How Bitcoin works with the Blockchain & Proof of Work – Short Activity
5. Setup a crypto wallet and send crypto to each other – Short Activity
6. How to buy Bitcoin and other crypto
7. How to properly store Bitcoin and other crypto
8. Further ways to educate yourself
Starting today my business can provide:
1. Further consulting on how to properly buy Bitcoin & other crypto at different exchanges.
2. Services that help people buy the crypto they want. (Remote service also offered).
3. How to properly store Bitcoin and other crypto properly with backups.
4. Resell hardware wallets and train on how to use them.
If you are interested in the class, send me a PM so that I can get an idea how many people are interested.
Thanks and Please Share!

I cancelled my home phone about a month back. If you need computer support, you can message me through Facebook, text me at 605-695-6768, call me at that same number or email me: at [email protected] . Most of my time working is at night or on the weekends so for a lot of the home users this works out well. A lot of the time, issues can be resolved remotely without me coming on site or you dropping off your computer. I also do a quite of few of maintenance, cleanups and updates on a yearly basis or whenever people think it needs to be done. Let you know if you need any help!

Just a FYI, In the near future, I'll be cancelling my home phone and taking calls or texts through my cell phone. 605-695-6768 - Thanks!

About every month I get a call from someone that gets this scary pop-up on their screen saying that their computer has all these viruses. There might even be alarms going off. It's all a scam. Don't call the number and don't let them connect to your computer. Also don't give them your credit card number. I'm working on a computer today and the scam guys left this on their computer. They are pretending to be a legit company called Barrow Solutions. How many misspelled words can you find?

Windows 7 will lose support this coming January. That basically means that you will no longer get those monthly critical updates that help protect your computer. The "Bad Guys" know this as well so more than likely there will be some malware released that will be specifically target at Windows 7 no longer being supported. Do you need a new computer? Maybe. Can your existing computer be upgraded? Possibly. There's a good chance that upgrading your computer with a Solid State Drive and Windows 10 can greatly improve the performance of your existing computer. Give me a call and we can chat about it. - Mike

Backing Up Your Data

If your computer died right now, what would be the impact of not being able to recover things on your computer such as pictures, email, personal documents, tax information, Quickbooks or Quicken data?
Hard Drives can fail without any warning. Sometimes data can be recovered from a failing drive but sometimes not.
There's a type of malware called ransonware that can encrypt all your data and the 'bad' guys want a lot of money to decrypt your data. There is a good chance that your antivirus will not protect you from something like this. This is becoming ever more popular for the bad guys as it's very profitable for them and it's not going away anytime soon.
Ideally you should have 3 copies of your data. (3-2-1 Rule for Backups). The 1st copy is your 'working' copy that you use everyday and that's stored on your computer. Your 2nd copy is an offsite copy not at your home or business. The easiest way to do this is to use an Online program such as Carbonite that automatically backs up your data without you having to do anything. The 3rd Copy is another copy of your data on an external USB hard drive or you could burn your data to CDs or DVDs.
The most convenient way I've found to follow this 3-2-1 rule is to use Carbonite Personal Plus plan with an external hard drive. Carbonite will automatically backup your data to your external hard drive and offsite to their servers.
If you interested in setting something like this up, give me a call or Message me.
