I was honored to design a sub-identity for The City Mission: their "Hope Partner" donor program. This sub-brand would recognize and inspire recurring donors who support the mission through a monthly subscription model. The goal: develop a logo that honored their generosity, reflected the organization’s values, and encouraged others to join the cause. If you are looking for an amazing nonprofit in Cleveland to support, you should definitely go check them out!
Design Brief:
· Create a hopeful and inspiring identity that appeals to a younger, modern audience.
· Ensure the sub-brand feels visually connected to The City Mission’s current branding.
· Develop a digital-first design suitable for web, email, and social media.
· Incorporate symbols of partnership, transformation, and escape from poverty.
· Favor a serif font that exudes warmth and trustworthiness.
Final Design Solution:
The chosen mark features a dove taking flight, subtly derived from the shape of an outstretched hand. The dove faces left—opposite the direction of English reading—symbolizing the breaking away from crisis and poverty. The design balances literal symbolism and abstract form, creating a clean, versatile icon for digital and print applications.
The main typeface for “Hope” is a soft and inviting serif font symbolizing friendliness and hope while the typeface for “Partner” is modern sans serif font as a nod to the younger generation’s design trends.
