If you notice that your internet browser home page has changed, or that your browsers are not using the normal search engines then you have likely become the victim of a browser hijack. One of the most common recently is conduit. Browser hijackers can see where you are surfing and possibly even see your sensitive data. It is recommended to get it cleaned up as soon as possible.

If you happen to get a notice from the "FBI" when you start up your computer do not send them money. Consult your favorite computer guy and have them remove the fraudware for you.

As a public notice, I have seen an increase in fraudware infections the last couple of weeks. Fraudware is typically an Anti-virus program that pops up and tells you about all of the horrible infections your computer has. The program is fake and the "errors" are all false. Do not click on any links the fraudware prompts you to use or the infection becomes much worse. If you find yourself infected the best course of action is to contact your favorite IT guy, and I'm not going to lie, I hope that IT guy is me. :-)
