Last year, Amanda Seyfried was subject to a whole lot of backlash after she commented on a Charlie Kirk video.

Following his death, a Reel went round of a selection of his controversial remarks.

“He was hateful,” she wrote. But this was soon interpreted as a response to his murder and Seyfried posted a statement to clarify: “I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable.”

It didn’t seem to be quite enough though and she’s now said she ended up hiring a bodyguard.

Having previously made it clear she wasn’t ‘f**king apologising’, she told British GQ this week that she wants her kids to ‘feel safe to voice their opinions as long as they’re not harmful’.

“So I’m like, ‘What do I do? What do I say?’ And then all of a sudden I find myself with a f**king bodyguard at the airport and I’m like, ‘This is crazy.’”

She said she experienced a ‘very small fraction’ of the ‘outsized fear and hatred and impulse to bash and to tear down’.
