The client is seeking a Specialized Developer IV to design, develop, and implement Big Data applications using AWS Cloud services and programming languages (e.g. - Java/python, Apache Spark) to support business requirements. Developer IV performs high complexity (i.e. system level applications) analysis, design, development and unit testing of software applications from user requirements and design documents. The candidate also resolves defects encountered during various testing cycles.

Summary: The main function of a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is to develop and execute software test plans in order to identify software problems and their causes.

Job Responsibilities:

Execute test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures

Develop testing programs that address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, or usability
Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software developers

Qualifications:

Ideally want someone to come onboard that already has it, if not they will work to get cert once they join team.

Day to Day:

Will be the leads right hand. Want help with building automation frameworks. Will try different POCs and see if different tools will work. Very passionate to try various things. Good communication and presentation skills.
Mainly coding 80%- 90% of day coding
Kanban- don’t have scripts, the developers pick up a task, once tis done they pick up next task. Don’t operate based on sprint. Based on their availability they pick up more tasks.
UI automation. Have an angular application, need coverage for UI part. Need this person to help ramp up automation and build frameworks to automate application- like how to test specific component


Initiative:

Application is called Digital Experience Transformation. It is used by FINRA's external users. DXT effort started 2019. its live, users are using the system. Still have many features to add.
FINRA's clients have to go to various places for different functionalities- to get details about firm or individuals. If they need to get details around risk, have to go to different application.
DXT is effort where they're trying to bring all functionalities under one roof.
Each app has its own team, dev, product, etc.
Each person will be placed in a team where they have developer, BA, product owner, etc.


Interview Process:

1 hour Zoom screen- testing coding skills
3 hour panel Zoom interview- each hour would have 2 interviewers. Testing coding skills, QA mindset, AWS knowledge, general methodologies.
