What does it mean to be MOXIE?
If you know Daniel Ra, you know his family's incredible legacy. In 1592, his ancestor, Na Dae-yong, stood alongside Admiral Yi Sun-sin to create the famous Korean "Turtle Ship" (Geobukseon). An innovation for its time, the Turtle Ship protected the fleet from enemy boarding and fire arrows, the dominant tactics of the Imjin War. Outnumbered 333 to 13, their design protected a nation against overwhelming odds.
Hundreds of years later, we see that same spirit in Red Alpha. Every single day, our team's commitment to bold problem solving is why we do what we do. To us, "moxie" means having the conviction to build the Turtle Ships of today, challenging conventional thinking when the mission demands it.
That said, we're incredibly proud to share that we've been selected as a finalist for the Washington DC Moxie Award. 🏆 More than anything, we're grateful because this recognition celebrates that spirit, a legacy inspired by Na Dae-yong hundreds of years ago that continues to shape who we are today.
