Although it looks like things have been relatively quiet over here while we are building out the new space, we’ve been meeting non-stop with community partners, business owners, and legislators - sharing our story, advocating for the arts all across the city, and fundraising so that we can bring CPCA into full public life. We eventually made our way to the Columbus City Council and worked with Council Member Bankston’s office to secure a $197,000 grant to help get CPCA across the finish line to opening. Our Co-Director, Elisa, had the opportunity to speak in front of City Council on Monday and shared how the impact of this investment would be felt not only within the arts community in Columbus but throughout our new neighborhood, the city, and the region. We are stunned and just overwhelmed by the generosity of Council Member Nicholas Bankston and Legislative Aid JP Dorval who took the time to listen to our story and find space in the capital budget for our project. We will not forget the feeling of having a city council member proudly declare to the public that the arts are an integral and valued part of our city.

We are also indebted to Senator Hearcel Craig and Kylie Harper, and to City Council President Shannon Hardin and Jessica Clinger for listening and providing guidance, support, and enthusiasm. And an enormous thanks to CPCA print client, artist, and Legislative Aid, Amber Glendell-McClendon, who took time out of her busy schedule to connect us with legislative offices who could potentially support us.

We just want folks to know that there are people who are really willing to roll their sleeves up and work to make Columbus a sustainable place for artists. The impact of arts infrastructure goes beyond artists finding space and an audience for their self expression. It infiltrates every area of our social and civic lives in the form of community connection and support, cultural diversity, access to resources, community health and well-being, education, and the list goes on. We’re so excited to continue this work that feels like it’s actually just beginning. Thank you to everyone who we have come across this past year. You’ve made this vision real.

For two years we walked through buildings that almost worked - too small, too expensive, too far gone.

Ann St was the first one that felt like it could actually hold what we’ve been trying to build -

seventeen studios, built from scratch inside this old shell with amazing neighbors.

We’re getting close now.
Doors open in June.

Five of the studios are still open if you’re looking for a place to land and work.

We’re artists building this for other artists.
Come be a part of it.

WOW thank you for all of the print purchases and support so far 💪🎉🔨🔌🚪!! Our team is reinvigorated and things are moving full speed ahead thanks to YOU!

We are busy finishing framing, hanging drywall, roughing in plumbing, and finishing electrical work with outlets and emergency lighting. It’s been a thrill to have the building full of activity again and we can’t wait to open the doors.

Our print fundraiser runs through May 11th so there’s still time to purchase some of this beautiful work at the link in our bio. Funds raised help cover the costs of finishing the work to get CPCA open to the public. Thanks again to the incredible artists contributing work.

From far and wide: help us support our artist-run, community art center in Columbus, Ohio!

* Online Print Sale Fundraiser
* April 9 - May 11

After a long year of construction, permit delays, and endless behind-the-scenes problem solving, we are finally in the home stretch! We’ve secured the approvals we need, construction is moving forward, and we are now about 6 weeks away from reopening our doors in June.

To help carry us through this final stretch, over 65 artists have generously contributed images for this special print sale fundraiser, which is now live.

Each work is available as an unsigned open-edition photographic print for $150, printed in-house in CPCA’s digital lab on paper generously donated by and . The proceeds directly support the final phase of construction, including contractor payments, electrical and HVAC completion, life-safety and ADA upgrades, and the last details needed to make this place a sustainable and welcoming space for everyone.

Thank you for helping bring our community art space across the finish line. We cannot wait to welcome you in!
