31% of breaches now start with exploited vulnerabilities and most aren’t fully remediated for 43 days.

In a new SC Media op ed, Craig Birch, Principal Technologist explains how AI is collapsing exploit timelines, leaving defenders with far less time to react as attackers pivot from initial access to AD and Entra ID, abusing credentials, roles, and trust paths to operate as normal activity within identity.

We’re always grateful when customers share their experience.

Active Directory disaster recovery isn’t just about restoration, it’s about maintaining a trusted state you can transition to immediately.

Our patented standby instant forest recovery capability in Cayosoft Guardian was built with real-world disaster recovery in mind.

Proud to see that reflected in this latest 5-star review: https://okt.to/bHgYBh

Over 80% of breaches involve compromised identities. Active Directory is still where many of them start.

Not because of advanced exploits but because of misconfigurations, excessive access, and gaps in visibility that go unnoticed.

We outlined 15 practical ways to secure Active Directory in 2026.

We’re proud to share that Cayosoft Guardian Protector™ has been named a Gold Stevie® Award winner in the Identity & Access Security Solution category at the 2026 American Business Awards®.

Identity attacks rarely start with malware. They start with small, often invisible changes inside Active Directory and Entra ID. Guardian Protector was recognized for redefining how organizations detect these threats, surfacing risky identity changes as they happen.

🔸Real-time visibility across Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365
🔸Detection of privilege escalation, policy tampering, and other high-risk
changes as they occur

As identity continues to be the primary attack surface, closing the gap between compromise and detection is critical, and it is what’s driving the shift toward identity threat detection and response (ITDR).

Guardian Protector is our contribution to that shift, a free, always-on solution built to help teams see and respond to identity threats in real time.

It was great to be part of the South Florida ISSA + HackMiami event this week alongside such an engaged community.

Our own Craig Birch presented alongside David Guindi, IT Director at Broward Health and President-Elect of HIMSS South Florida Chapter, diving into "Modern Active Directory Attack Paths and Toxic Combinations". They showed how these risks take shape, why they are so hard to detect, and walked everyone through a live end to end compromise.

Thank you to Yosi Attias, President at South Florida ISSA, and Rod Soto of HackMiami, and the entire ISSA and HackMiami teams for having us, and to everyone who joined the engaging discussions.

It was a pleasure connecting with so many of you. We're always proud to contribute to conversations that strengthen identity security across the community. Looking forward to the next one!

Microsoft 365 E7 marks a major shift: AI agents are now operating as identities inside Entra ID and Microsoft 365.

They authenticate, hold permissions, and make changes, often at a scale and speed traditional identity threat detection and response (ITDR) models weren’t designed for.

This creates some new questions:

🔸What does identity threat detection look like when there’s no login event?
🔸How do you monitor high-volume, agent-driven changes across identities?
🔸And, what does response and recovery mean when automation is the one
making the changes?

At Cayosoft, our customers are our partners.

We had a great time hosting our Customer Advisory Board at the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta and hearing directly from our customers about the challenges they’re navigating and how we can help.

“Cayosoft is here to represent me and our needs and make sure they’re keeping up with us and staying ahead of us. They’re evolving the product to always meet our needs when we come to them, which is amazing.”

Our VP of Marketing, Jennifer LuPiba said it best: "We’re not trying to be everything to everyone. We’re purpose-built to be precise, powerful, and predictable under pressure."

Craig and David will break down how these attack paths form, why toxic combinations are so hard to spot, and walk through a live end-to-end compromise from initial access to credential materialization and persistence using only authorized behavior.

World Password Day 2026 highlights an important reality: organizations are operating between legacy password-based systems and the urgent need for modern identity security.

Threats are accelerating. Regulations are tightening. The stakes have never been higher, and the conversation around authentication has never been more nuanced.

Check out VMblog's World Password Day expert roundup featuring insights from security leaders across the industry, including our own Craig Birch.

Craig shares:

“Attackers rarely crack passwords directly. They exploit credentials that are valid, reused, or already exposed.

Breached passwords, synced identities, service accounts, and legacy authentication paths remain common entry points into Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.

Modern password protection requires more than complexity rules. It requires continuous monitoring, phishing-resistant MFA, and rapid response when credentials are exposed.

A password that has been compromised, overprivileged, or silently changed is no longer a control. It is an attack path.”
