As some of you maybe finding out it is with heavy hearts as the owners of JDM Surplus LLC after much thought have decided to close the Surplus Store. We will remain open through the process of finding new owners or selling the building, But during this process we will begin liquidating the inventory.
Our intentions are to continue restocking the educational supplies until the final liquidation.
At this time our hours will remain as normal, if they would change we will do our best to let you know ahead of time.
JDM Surplus, LLC had an amazing run serving the community with incredible bargains on electrical, electronic, mechanical parts and school supplies, but today the process officially begins to find new owners for the building.
"We're not selling as an operating business, but someone can buy the building, buy all the contents or buy both - but the business itself and the name of the business are not for sale," said co-owner John Haines.
The move is a bittersweet one for all three owners, which include John, his wife Darlene Haines and Michelle Mosier, but for health and personal reasons, it's time to move on.
Today, Sluss Realty officially lists the 30,000 square foot warehouse, at 202. W. Livingston Ave., in Crestline, for sale with agent Stacey Wampler.
John has been with the business the longest, starting more than 30 years ago when it was known as CTR Surplus.
In April 2017, the business changed from being CTR to JDM, with each letter standing for the first letter of the ownersโ names.
The business has provided an incredible array of products to consumers, especially to teachers, who got incredible discounts on the items.
The decision to close wasnโt an easy one.
โItโs been a long year because weโve been wrestling with this decision, but itโs time,โ Darlene said.
โIt was me who was the hold up,โ John admitted. โI started it and I hate to finish it.โ
The trio said they would particularly like to see the continuation of the school supplies at discounted prices being made available to teachers somehow.
The mass of contents inside the building will be negotiable.
