Please join us today to grieve the loss of Crete Police Chief Gary Young.
FUNERAL ATTENDANCE
The public is welcome to attend the funeral service, which will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, at Ag Hall at Tuxedo Park in Crete.
Ag Hall will be open at 9:00 a.m. Monday. Officers will be on site to direct parking.
Following the funeral and law enforcement honors, there will be a procession to transport Chief Young to his final resting place at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
PROCESSION INFORMATION
The public is invited to line the procession route both in Crete and in Lincoln to pay their respects to Chief Young. The procession is expected to depart Ag Hall at approximately 11:00 a.m. and travel along the following route:
IN CRETE: Depart Ag Hall and travel south on Tuxedo Park Road. Turn east on W 13th Street/Highway 33 to exit Crete. Travel on Highway 33 toward Lincoln. The Saline County Sheriff’s Office will provide traffic control in Crete.
IN LINCOLN: Enter Lincoln northbound on S 14th Street. Continue northbound on S 14th Street until arriving at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. The Lincoln Police Department will provide traffic control at major intersections in Lincoln.
Members of the public are encouraged to line the route in Crete or Lincoln, but not on the highway route between the two communities. Public should NOT park on the route itself.

The live stream will begin at 9:50 a.m. and will remain on until the procession concludes at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to last approximately 45 minutes, after which time the procession will depart Crete and travel to Lincoln. If technology cooperates, the live stream will include an aerial view of the procession from the NSP AirWing. If the live aerial stream doesn’t work, the live stream will end when the procession departs Ag Hall.
