Earlier this year I set a goal and said it out loud: put one piece in the Cuchara Art Show. The stretch goal was to get two pieces done in time. I’m still very much learning my new favorite medium (colored pencil) and staying busy with classes in the School of Botanical Art & Illustration (plus work and kids), so I dragged my feet. But I had promised myself I would do this and you know what happened? I submitted not one, but two colored pencil pieces this past week to the Cuchara Art Show. And then since I was feeling more confident, I was able to introduce myself at the Artist Talks to a crowd of approximately 90 people. It was a great weekend just showing my work and speaking about my work and seeing myself as an artist. But, to make everything even better… my pieces sold… opening night!

17 years ago was the last time I participated in the Cuchara Art Show with some of my photography. I sold one piece then but didn’t get to see my work in the Community Center I love or share about my art. I’m constantly learning and growing, but now I feel like I’m finding the right path.

I’m going to ‘speak’ my Cuchara Art Show goal for 2027 now: at least eight pieces (limit for hanging art). Stretch goal: 16 pieces (limit for hanging + bin art). This time I’m hoping I won’t wait until the panic sets in!

If you’ve read this far, thank you! I spoke this goal for 2026 aloud back in February… and I had some other goals as well when I started my journey with the Flammable Entrepreneur. Some of the goals I have not reached, so can you help me?

💌Grow my email list, I need 75 more (can you join? I don’t email too often! Link in bio)
♥️Grow my social media following by 20% (follow if you’re not, share this if you are!)
💰Land new clients and earn steady income (do you need graphic design help or want to commission an art piece?)

✅Update my website (mostly have done this, still doing some more tweaks)
✅Consolidate my Instagram accounts (RIP botanicalsbybecca)
✅Sumbit piece to Cuchara Art Show!

To everyone who follows, likes, comments, and supports me…. THANK YOU! I couldn’t do this without you and I look forward to continuing this journey!

Last year I worked on a Columbine piece and did some color matching. I ended up just doing ink for the final piece, so this summer I really wanted to use the pencil combination I put together and practice a few columbines. Practiced a few times for a more final piece (last photo). ♥️ Columbines are one of my favorite flowers and can be found in the Rocky Mountains.

I recently created a Trail Bingo for an upcoming tyke hike I was going to lead with the Cuchara Valley Recreation Program program. Due to family health issues we canceled the hike, but I wanted to share this bingo as a free printable. Check it out at https://rebeccaleighdesigns.com/links/
🥾 I created this Trail Bingo as a nod to the Recreation Program's infamous Bingo. This is a fun way to get kiddos outside and enjoying nature, you don't even need a trail! Just note, one item is an Aspen Tree, so if you need to switch that with something more regional, go for it!

I’m trying to find pockets of time to work on small pieces to practice techniques and color theory. Last week I did this sunflower and built it up from a purple. I didn’t like the slightly off center, but it was a fun thing to just practice and see what works and doesn’t. I’ll share another version of this sunflower with a more red-violet base soon to show the difference. 🌻 I took photos in my poorly lit living room and Instagram always messes with my brightness too, ugh! 🌻 I have some other small flowers I want to play around with, but are there flowers you’d like to see!?

If you are looking to connect with your customers (members, clients, etc.) you need to make sure you are sticking to your brand. It may feel quick and easy to just use a Canva template, but your business is unique! You also need to be consistent in your branding (logo, colors, fonts, messaging). Hiring a graphic designer can save you time (and time is money!), plus bring you a better ROI.

Working on a fun little personal project 🌸 My grandmother is turning 102 in less than a month! This year my kids and their cousins are making her a little bouquet. Each kiddo will pick and color a flower. We are kicking it off here in Colorado and my mom will take the rest to Georgia to finish up. I’ll try to shared a photo of the finish product!

Your campaign shouldn't look like it has multiple personalities! Ever clicked on a social media ad, downloaded a guide, then received a postcard from the same company... only to wonder if they were actually the same business?

Your brochures, flyers, social posts, digital ads, email graphics, downloads, banners, and print pieces should all work together like members of the same team.

When your print and digital materials share the same look, feel, messaging, and branding, you create a seamless customer experience that builds recognition, trust, and results.

The best part? You don't need separate designers for print and digital.

I create collateral including print AND digital. Let's make sure your next campaign looks amazing everywhere. Set up a FREE consultation today!
