Today we remember Bernard Kerik.
Bernie sat on our board, but he was far more than that to us. He was a friend, a mentor, and a steadfast believer in the mission of Illuno.
For decades, he embodied the very best of law enforcement. From his service in New York City to his leadership during the aftermath of September 11th, Bernie represented courage, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others. He understood that behind every badge is a person who has chosen a life of service, sacrifice, and responsibility.
What many people saw was a decorated police commissioner. What we saw was a man who never stopped showing up for the law enforcement community he loved. Even after a lifetime of service, he continued investing his time, wisdom, and energy into supporting the next generation of officers and the organizations working to serve them.
His belief in Illuno, and in the men and women who put on the uniform every day, meant more to us than words can express.
One year later, we still feel that loss.
The Illuno family is better for having known him. His legacy lives on in the officers he inspired, the lives he impacted, and the example he set for what leadership, loyalty, and service should look like.
In the words of FBI Director Kash Patel:
“Rest easy, Commissioner. Your watch has ended, but your impact will never fade.”
Never forgotten!
