Trick or treat? 🎃

Trick: an invoice that matches the PO.
Treat: an invoice that matches the contract.

Every health system has a few haunted invoices hiding in its purchased services spend:

👻 Ghost charges for services nobody received
🧟 Zombie rates that rose from the dead after the amendment buried them
🕸️ Phantom fees that never appeared in the contract
🦇 Vanishing discounts that disappear right when the tier should kick in

None of them jump out at you. They creep in one line item at a time.

SpendRule checks invoice lines against the contract before they're paid, so the only scare your team gets this Halloween is an empty candy bowl.

Happy Halloween from the SpendRule team!

Big day at SpendRule. We raised $4 million led by Mark Cuban’s Radical Investments, with participation from Zeal Capital Partners.

Health systems negotiate thousands of contracts, then pay invoices nobody checks against them. SpendRule reads every term, checks each invoice, and shows the evidence behind every overcharge - all before the payment is made. Every dollar lost to a billing mismatch is a dollar that didn’t go to care.

Hear the story from our co-founders Chris Heckler and Joseph Akintolayo. Link in comments for the full announcement.

Packed room for our Lunch & Learn at the HCP Fall Hospital Supply Chain Conference yesterday. Thank you to every supply chain leader who gave us an hour of their time.

We walked through how SpendRule turns contracts and invoices into structured data, validates every invoice line against the contract before payment, and puts Category Enforcement Agents to work disputing exceptions with vendors, evidence included. No API integration into your ERP or AP system. No changes to the systems you already run. Your team gets time back for sourcing and negotiating while SpendRule plays defense on the price.

The question we heard most: “How do we see this on our own contracts?” Simple. Test it with your own documents and see what’s hiding in your data.

Great to have Adrian Cunningham, TriHealth; Anthony Meldrum, Vanderbilt; Christina Good, M Health Fairview; Christopher Scribner, Crouse Hospital; Christy Truair, Clara Maass Medical Center; Elizabeth Sanchez, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook; Georgia Cochrane, Fairview Health Services; Gregory Goddard, Mercy Hospital Springfield; Jeremy Johnson, Centralus Health; Joshua Owen, UT Southwestern Medical Center; Kerry Collum, Vitruvian Health; Kimberly Hazlett, Akron Children's Hospital; Laurie Pate, St. Luke's Health System; Marisa Del Carpio, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale; Nicholas Flatt, Saint Francis Health System; Rosa Costanzo, Jackson Health System; Sean Hazlett, Mason Health; Tom White, Froedtert ThedaCare Health; and Wayne Redwine, Magnolia Regional Health Center in the room.

A strong start to the HCP Fall Hospital Supply Chain Conference.

A tier discount that should have applied. A rebate that never made it onto the invoice. A value-add buried deep in a 300-page agreement. Contract pricing is rarely a single number, and it only protects margin if someone applies the rule to every invoice.

At Booth 1409, the SpendRule team showed how we do that: capturing complex pricing from the contract, applying the documented rule to the invoice, and showing the inputs so your team can see exactly how each number was reached.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by.

Chris Heckler, Joseph Akintolayo, Daniel MacKinnon, and Jenn Mobbs are on-site through the conference. If purchased services spend, contracts, or invoice validation is on your team’s radar, find us and let’s talk.

Happy Supply Chain Week to the people who make sure the right supplies and services are there when a patient needs them.

Supply chain teams don't get many headlines. But every procedure, every room turnover, every shift that's fully staffed traces back to someone who sourced it, contracted it, and made sure it showed up on time. When every second matters, that work is the difference.

It's also harder than most people realize. Thousands of vendor contracts. Hundreds of service and supply categories. Renewals, amendments, and rate changes that never stop. And through all of it, these teams keep negotiating rates that protect their health system's margin.

Here's the part we care about at SpendRule: that negotiated value only counts if it makes it onto the invoice. Too often, the rate that was won at the table quietly leaks away after signature, one line item at a time.

Supply chain plays offense. We're here to play defense. SpendRule checks invoices against the contract that governs them, catches the charges that don't match, and gets what you negotiated all the way to the bottom line.

To every supply chain professional reading this: thank you. You earned the rate. Let's make sure you keep it.

You negotiated the rate. SpendRule checks that the invoice honors it. See what's hiding in your own data.

Meet SpendRule in Vegas at the 2026 Fall Hospital Supply Chain Conference.

We're proud to be a sponsor of the 2026 Fall Hospital Supply Chain Conference, taking place October 12–14 at the Westgate Resort & Casino.

The savings a health system negotiates into a purchased services contract and the savings it actually collects are rarely the same number. That gap between what's agreed on paper and what gets enforced at the point of payment, is exactly what SpendRule was built to close.

If you're managing purchased services spend, contracts, or invoice validation inside your organization, let's connect in person.

Chris Heckler, Joseph Akintolayo, Daniel MacKinnon, and Jenn Mobbs will be on-site representing SpendRule throughout the conference. Stop by the booth or register for our lunch session to connect with us directly.

Every conversation we have comes back to the same idea: purchased services contracts are negotiated with real discipline and too often enforced with none.

If that's a challenge on your team's radar, let's connect in Vegas.

Behind every great product is a team that shows up for the work, and for each other.

Last week, the SpendRule team stepped away from the day-to-day to spend time together, and it was a great reminder that our biggest strength has always been our people.

Around this table: Chris Heckler, Donald Cramer, Jenn Mobbs, Naveen Ganadi, Krishna Kankipati, Jerry Zeng, Joseph Akintolayo, & Daniel MacKinnon.

Helping health systems close the gap between what's negotiated and what's actually paid takes focus, persistence, and people who care about getting it right. It also takes time to sit together, laugh, and remember why we do this.

Grateful for this team, and for everything we're building together.

A matched invoice feels safe. On purchased services, it often is not.

When an invoice matches the PO, it clears. But the PO only reflects what someone expected to pay, not what the contract actually entitles the vendor to charge. So a matched invoice can be confidently, cleanly wrong.

The only way to know it is correct is to validate it against the contract itself. That is the difference between matched and verified.

Make approved mean verified.
