Beware of email attachments! A client was hit with ransomware for the 2nd time in a year. Five hours last night and a few in the early hours of this morning spent cleaning up the mess.

One of the employees opened an attachment they shouldn't have and it was apparently new enough in the life-cycle the AntiVirus software didn't catch it. Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas.

We still need to reformat and reload the offending computer and scan the network stations to make sure it didn't find its way on to the other stations, but we're pretty sure network security on the workstations is good enough that it didn't migrate. Luckily there are only about a dozen workstations in this office, so it shouldn't take more than a few hours to wrap this incident up.

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP! We often neglect to manage our backups in small businesses, but it was a life-safer in this instance.
