If you've ever sent a client's logo to production and gotten it rejected for "not being print-ready," this is why.

A JPEG or PNG is a raster file — it's made of pixels. Zoom in far enough and you'll see the blur. It works fine on a screen, but the moment you scale it up for a shirt, sign, or banner, it turns blurry and jagged.

An AI, EPS, or SVG file is a vector file — it's made of mathematical paths, not pixels. That means it can scale from a business card to a billboard with zero quality loss. Sharp lines, clean color, every time.

Here's the simple way to remember it:
→ Raster (JPG/PNG) = good for screens, web, social media
→ Vector (AI/EPS/SVG) = good for print, embroidery, signage, large-format

If a client only has a logo as a JPEG, it's not usable for print production — it needs to be redrawn as a vector first. That's a completely normal and common step, not a red flag.

So next time production asks for a "vector file" instead of just "the logo" — now you know why.
