A logo suite like the one featured in this image is a collection of brand assets we deliver that allow our clients to have versions of their logo for almost any application.
Digital and traditional media have different specifications.
For example, a website icon or favicon sometimes is so small that the logos need to be minimized to only 32x32 pixels i.e the Netflix app icon or favicon. So a simple variation of the primary logo must be created to make the brand recognizable.
An example of traditional media logo applications could be an screenprinted logo on a tractor like a Jhon Deere grill emblem.
Your business MUST have this collection of brand assets to easily help your team match the right variationto the right application.
Here is a common way of structuring a Logo Family or Suite:
- Primary Logo (Vertical layout) - normally your symbol, logotype and tagline
- Primary Logo (Horizontal Layout) - normally your symbol, logotype and tagline
— Secondary Logos (without tagline)
—— Tertiary Logos (Symbols, badges, emblems or just Text)
Then you can include other variations that are more industry specific such as color, grayscale, pixel-perfect, etc.
If you only have one logo, and you place it everywhere without some kind of guidelines and intention all you’re doing is decorating with graphics, and the point of your logos is to serve as instruments to help you build brand equity and recognition. Use them wisely.
And if you get stuck, let us know and we’ll gladly help you know what versions of your logo are absolutely necessary for you to have.
