BLAST FROM THE PAST
In 2013, God’s Storehouse send out a call for logo designs. For the weeks leading up to the submission deadline I had not heard about the contest. Then, just a few days before the deadline of June 28, a friend mentioned the contest in passing. So, out of curiosity, I looked it up. My thoughts, if God leads me to a design idea, without a lot of struggle, then I would make a submission.
One thing to understand when it comes to logo design, sometimes an idea will just seem to happen out of thin air. That’s the exception instead of the rule. Most of the time it takes various tries and research to finally get usable ideas that I can pass on to the client. There’s no guarantee the client will like any of the ideas. If I’m luck they will like parts of the ideas and I can build additional options from there. If I’m really lucky, they like one of the options without having to make some, or any, alterations. If I’m extremely lucky, the idea comes out great instantly with the client loving it.
That’s what happened with the idea for God’s Storehouse. I started working on an idea and it “just happened.” I ended up submitting my idea just two days before the deadline. And the rest, as they say, is history. Several days later I found out the board chose my design. I was thrilled. I later joined the marketing committee for GSH and eventually became a board member myself. I’m so glad I was able to help and continue to serve this wonderful organization.
