clean up any unwanted programs and old temp files and remove apps that should not be starting up and clean up any Virus or malware. Laptops I do all of the above mentioned except for removing the cover. I do check the fans and clean if needed.

Please be careful with the scams going on. We are seeing a few per week. The scammers are professional and very adept at stealing money. Never give any credit card or other personal information to anyone. Most pretend to be from Microsoft. Microsoft couldn't care less how your computer is running.

One Terabyte USB Hard disks $69 with free backup App. I create the Backup App specifically with internet threats in mind. The Apps that normally come bundled with backup drives have you plug the drive in to the PC and keep it there which makes an easy target for encryption viruses, etc. This one backs up everything and lets you choose to create an entire disk image or not and then instructs you to unplug the drive when complete. This keeps your data perfectly safe.

If your internet is spotty, here are some things that you can try.
1. Empty history from the web browser that you are using. I do this daily and it helps.
2. If you have Atlantic Broadband or Cox communications they are notorious for connection timeouts. You can either wait it out.(They usually last up to five minutes) If they go longer you can unplug the power AND the coaxial cable from the modem and leave unplugged for a minute and then plug back it. It will take a minute or two for it to synchronize.
3. If you are wireless , make sure that you have a strong enough signal and are close enough to router.
4. I have been using a new web browser called Brave. www.brave.com It seems superior to all other web browsers. It blocks a lot of advertising nonsense, etc. Chrome is now the most widely used web browser and inasmuch it is more likely to be targeted by hackers. If you have it set to save your logins and passwords and you are hacked, then unscrupulous people have your logins and passwords. I recommend to all my client to NOT us that feature and instead put them all in a document or spreadsheet and print it out and thumbtack it to the wall over your PC.

Want more security? google, facebook and twitter are sharing your information with just about everyone. Do not use google products. Chrome,maps.google.com, a great search alternative is duckudckgo. Delete any saved passwords from passwords.google.com Do not use google as a search engine. Dump facebook for mewe.com , apple and twitter as well. mapquest app for phone is a great alternative to google maps.
