I had this question asked and I wanted to share and respond to everyone on the page, not just the OP. Applying for grants from the local, state, or federal government is not as easy as some may think. A prospective business has to spend sometimes hundreds of hours doing market research on top of determine costs to start the business. All of that has to be put together into a business proposal that you use to apply for the grant. A grant that you may not get because the chances are small. Unless the grant is specifically geared towards businesses with less than 25 employees then you have an almost zero chance of being awarded any money. We found in our research a nearby telecommunications company that has hundreds of employees across multiple states and serves hundreds of thousands of customers applied for, and received, millions of dollars in federal “small business” grants. Unfortunately there are loopholes that allow bigger, or already establish companies, to grab this funding and they just write it into their budgets each year as though it’s part of their revenue. Not to mention, all of those grants had been awarded for the year by February. Grant proposals are something we will definitely do in the future BUT we didn’t want to necessarily just sit around for a year. We wanted to engage with the community and hopefully build a social media following. We also wanted to open the option for the business to be crowd funded. It would get us capital faster than any other option out there and also gives the community the ability to do something for themselves. We think the internet is some big thing that only big companies can handle but it isn’t. We are the customers and we deserve to get what we pay for. And when we don’t we should have the option to get better service, but unfortunately all of these big telecoms have a stranglehold on territories and there are few options. In Decatur your only real option in much of the town is Xifinity and in most areas the service is terrible, combined with a customer service that is less than helpful.
We want to change that. We want to give you fat internet at a lower cost than the next guy, no data caps that limit how much you can use a service you pay for, and offer a better and more personalized customer service experience, on top of creating great paying jobs for this area and others as we expand.
All we are asking from you is to share our GoFundMe to all of your friends on social media and donate. If you can donate at least twenty-five dollars and share the link then we will enter you into our contests. So you don’t even have to live in the area to benefit from this company. Our first contest ends when we hit five thousand dollars. The rewards have been posted on the page previously so give us a scroll. That’s it, that’s all you have to do to potentially double your money back and maybe win bigger prizes.
