OpenLM is a global Software License Management leader. Stretching Your Licenses To Their Limits!

10/30/2026

The next chapter of our Geo-Compliance series focuses on setting up the rules.

Knowing where your licenses are used is only half the picture. The other half is defining the rules that keep that usage compliant.

See how a geo-compliance rule comes together in OpenLM through four key decisions, and how each one helps keep your license usage within the right boundaries. 🎥

Quick question: do you know where your licenses were accessed from today? 🌍

Seat counts tell you how many. They don’t tell you where. And for region-specific licenses, “where” is exactly what the vendor agreement cares about.

OpenLM’s Geo-Compliance module helps you:

📍 Track user locations alongside license usage
🗺️ Set rules by region or country, marking each license for local or global use
🚩 Pinpoint the exact source of non-compliance, like a local license accessed from another country

So potential breaches show up on your radar before they show up in an audit.

Your turn: how does your team keep track of where licenses are being used today? Share in the comments 👇

Ask five people in your organization to define software compliance, and you may get five different answers.

Software compliance means using an application strictly within its license agreement, including seat counts, deployment scope, user roles, and permitted use cases. It’s a contractual obligation, not a best practice.

This blog explains how compliance differs from optimization, what a software compliance policy should include, and how to get started without a full audit team.

Most of what teams learn about managing engineering software, they learn the hard way: from an audit they didn't see coming, a renewal that didn't go their way, or a project stalled waiting on a license.

OpenLM Connect UAE 2026 is a chance to learn it from people who've already been through it.

Swipe through for five things you'll take home after one evening at DIFC.

The evening's panel, "Navigating the new era of engineering software: control, vendor models & AI," brings together voices from KPMG Middle East, NYBS Consulting, Rdash, EPCPROMAN and OpenLM. Expect straight answers on subscription licensing, keeping control over critical applications, and where AI is genuinely helping.

Most engineering teams can tell you how many licenses they own. Far fewer can tell you who used them last week, which ones sat idle, or what they'd show an auditor tomorrow.

That gap shows up as engineers waiting on licenses, audits that catch teams off guard, and less say over critical applications every time a vendor changes its licensing model.

On 28 October, OpenLM Connect comes to Dubai. It's the first in-person event in the UAE dedicated to managing engineering software. Come hear how your peers handle visibility, audits, changing vendor models and AI, and what's actually working for them.

Who's it for?

🔹 IT and software asset managers
🔹 License managers
🔹 CAD operations managers
🔹 Procurement heads
🔹 CIOs, CTOs and CDOs

You'll be in the room with peers from diverse industries, including oil & gas, construction & AEC, infrastructure & GIS, aerospace & defence, automotive, manufacturing, and more.
