WiFi 6. It might be your first time hearing of it, but it's super fast, drastically more efficient, and built for today's technology.

How is it faster?
Most homes today have significantly more Wi-Fi enabled devices than they did even five years ago. From smartphones and tablets to televisions and IoT devices like thermostats and doorbells, just about everything can connect to a wireless router. Wi-Fi 6 communicates better with multiple devices that need data simultaneously, and more efficiently prioritizes traffic across those devices.

Mesh vs Range Extender?

Both are becoming more common household names for improving your WiFi coverage. So what's the difference? We'll keep today simple.

Mesh - can be a single unit or multiple units that work in tandem to connect to your main WiFi and use it's internet connection to make a new WiFi signal for extended coverage

Range Extender - typically used as a single unit. Connects to your main WiFi system and broadcasts it's existing signal and connection further.

When it comes to choosing between the 2, either can be installed by a professional to work optimally. However, for the home user the Mesh wins in my book. Technically speaking most range extenders slow your speeds much more drastically than a Mesh will. Additionally, range extenders sometimes have more issues "handing off" a connection back to the main routers WiFi or vice versa since they share the same WiFi name (unless configured differently).

One of our favorite topics of discussion is: things in technology you didn't know you needed.

Have you ever heard of an UPC or Uninterruptible Power Supply unit?

These devices are most commonly paired with routers or modems in residential environments. They contain an internal battery that can keep your internet (and more importantly your wifi) connected and online even when the power goes out so you can still use your laptop, tablets, smartphones, and other devices in times of a power outage or natural emergency.

They can also be used to protect and maintain power to desktop computers for a short period of time, giving you the window you need to properly shut down the computer before risk of damage or data loss.

Lastly, most (if not all) of them include built in surge protection for extra peace of mind for the electronics hooked to them.
