But seriously, fonts matter. Small nuances that you don’t even realize are there impact the way your eyes and brain process a font, so your feeling upon seeing a package for something isn’t just dictated by color palette or messaging, but also in how it’s displayed. It’s one of my favorite things to nerd out on as a designer.

The brainchild of one of the most unique concepts I’ve worked on finally launched with Summerside Creative last week!

This brand design was concocted from a desire to create a new kind of hotel stay that could challenge the usual hotel experience. We’re positioning the new movement of hotel design as the antithesis of what we’re calling the “Sameness Fatigue.” In a world where trends dictate and a lot of hotel stays seemingly feel like a slight variation of the last, I wanted to poise us on the cusp of something exciting and new.

Who would’a thought creating a personal brand was so difficult?

Months (and months…) in the making, I finally got my act together and hammered out my personal brand, which will launch with my new portfolio at the end of this week (!!!). The identity includes custom art pieces, like the image from the first slide, and a custom scripted font. I’m nothing if not extra, so my brand had to feel the same.

My biggest breakthrough came from pulling out a white board and jotting down various feelings I wanted people to when they see the designs. From this, I was able to finally pick out key words: warm, romantic, approachable, and maybe a little moody at times.
