Meet some rock stars.
Pictured are Natalie and Preston, the founders of and they’re helping rewrite the narrative for young people experiencing gang/justice involvement. When F.L.Y. came to us about a logo and explained their nonprofit’s vision, we couldn’t wait put a face to it.
They wanted to pay homage to a logo created by one of their youth (see 3rd picture). In our interpretation we:
- removed the drop shadow
-made sure the periods weren’t repeating as hand made art like calligraphy and graffiti don’t repeat perfectly
-made the drips come from the 3D border instead of the word itself
-made the birds negative stencils from the spray paint instead of being standalone
-added some fun colors
I included some graffiti that was an inspiration for the color and feel.
So far they have been able to make stickers, a baby onesie, t-shirt, and that’s just the beginning. Though the logo isn’t nearly as important as their work, being able to create something for them that draws the eye and upholds the professionalism with which they conduct themselves is what we’re all about.
