Devastating news hearing of Kyle Busch passing today. I worked on the 18 at Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008 when he took over driving duties, he was a hell of a driver, firey attitude and a take no prisoners. Being part of that team and M&M's Mars at that time was definitely a great part of my NASCAR career.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Busch Family and RCR. He'll be right up there at the top with Earnhardt, even winning a week ago.
God Speed Kyle Busch.

Somr big progress happened at the new Comp-Cal shop! 🏁πŸ”₯

The walls are starting to tell the story of where I've been and the incredible customers who have trusted me with their vintage stock car restorations over the years. The new β€œCustomer Wall of Fame” is coming together with some of our favorite builds and memories from decades of racing history.

The timeline of my racing career β€” from the early youth racing days all the way to being part of the 2005 NASCAR Cup Series Championship season with Joe Gibbs Racing and Tony Stewart. It’s pretty special seeing the journey laid out on the walls of the new shop.

Still plenty more to do, but it’s finally starting to feel like home. Can’t wait to keep adding more history, more restorations, and more memories to these walls.

New Comp-Cal Shop update: Another weekend in the books, progress has still been made but not exactly photo worth. Hung photos in the bathroom. I didn't want anything racing in there. I chose images from around north carolina instead. Beach, Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake Norman, and well of course the Days Of Thunder barn since its in mooresville.

Some electrical completed but not enough, vent filters installed to cut down on dust blowing around, and built frame work to hold the hexagon lights.

Still so much to do and so little time. I'm excited to move the business there but also so exhausted from all the prep.

New Comp-Cal Shop Update: Bathroom floor installed, sink installed to stay, base molding installed, touchups. Installed the light under the stairs, electrical has been started. Got our 100" fan 6 speed fan installed after customizing its length from the ceiling. Outdoor lights wired. Stair stain and paint touched up.
Hexagon light fixtures started.

Still so much to do in a month's time.

New Comp-Cal shop update from this past weekend, well week really. More progress made on the new shop for my full time business.

As I mentioned previously, I'm making weekly posts on the progress of the new space for my full time business, that way everyone see's where all my time if being devoted to until the business is moved and up and running. Once thats completed, I can finally get back to BW Modelworks clients builds.

Behind the shop area cleaned up and better organized, opening up more work area and parking outdoors. New outdoor signage installed.

Inside, I was able to finish the bathroom painting, clean the concrete, fill the expansion Crack in the floor, paint the trim, paint the bathroom door, install new hardware, install a new seat for the toilet, and prep the floor for tile.

Installed the rest if the handrailing on the stairs, get the upstairs office painted, take down light fixtures and clean them along with clean the fixtures that will be reused and installed.

My sons and wife came by yesterday to give a hand, that was very much appreciated. wouldn't have been able to do that much work without them.

I'm supposed to move in completely by June 1. So still a lot of work to go.

Thanks for everyone's patience and support.

New Comp-Cal shop weekly update. This weekend was completely all about replacing the existing warehouse fire door with this glass shop door. Massive amount of work, had to remove over half of the building siding inside and out to get to the door frame. The door we purchased was used but they gave us a new frame, but if course no instructions. 18 hours worth of work, but now we have a more inviting entry way for the business.

My goal with these posts is to keep everyone involved in where all my time is going which takes up so much for the next chapter of my professional life.

Once this massive undertaking is completed, then I can get back to client orders and builds.

Thanks again for your understanding and patience in this time of transition.

Here's another update on the New Comp-Cal shop space. Slowly coming along. Currently its just myself with some help from my son Justin this past weekend. He was able to get about 50% of the staining completed on the office stairs saturday. I finished it yesterday. Got the lights installed in the office, started some flooring and touch up paint on the bathroom outer wall. Put a new seal in the overhead door and put a new spotlight outside. So much to do. less then a month and a half before we move the business.

I will try to do weekly posts on the progress so everyone sees what my time is devoted to currently until the move is done then I can get back to customer builds.

Thanks for following along and your patience.

I wanted to post another update on progress of the new home of Comp-Cal, Inc. my main business of vinyl graphics, vehicle wraps, vintage stock car graphic restorations and small signage.

It is coming along, the past 2 weekends has just been cleaning and pressure washing dust and dirt from this space. As it had been used for fabrication and bodywork for 10+ years. Of course with vinyl graphic production that wouldn't be the environment suited for that business.

There's still electrical, lighting, large fans, painting, flooring to do before its ready to move in. I need to be moved into this space by June 1st. So less than 2 months and I really only have weekends to work on it. Alot of work still to do.

I just wanted to post this update, so everyone can see what my time has been devoted to since Comp-Cal is my main source of income for myself and my 2 employees.

Once we get moved in, I will be able to put forth time into moving forward on client builds as promised.

Just stay tuned. I will keep everyone posted on the progress.

Comp-Cal New Shop Construction. For those interested. This is what my father and I have been working on the past 4 months. As you can see, a huge undertaking when only being able to work on it during weekend hours.

Thank you for your patience. It's very much appreciated.

⚠️ 2026 UPDATE - March 02, 2026

I wanted to update all existing clients on what's been happening since my last post 2 months ago.

πŸ€” Hopefully you had seen my previous post.

I am in the process of prepping a new shop for my full time graphics business, Comp-Cal, Inc.

For 17 years I've run my business out of the current location, I am moving my business to my father's shop, still in Denver, NC. My lease runs out at the end of May 2026. I have to be moved out by June 1st. Essentially giving me 3 months to move, while still running the business to make a living.

The new location is coming along, but my father and I are doing it ourselves, so we can only do it weekends. Which of course is when I would put the most time into client builds.

So since my last post, every weekend has been involved in building walls, moving equipment, etc to prepare the space. We still have electrical, lighting, painting, floor prep etc to do before we can move.

Also Ive been working basically a 2nd job with his his business UNB Customs. Leaving absolutely zero time for builds. As I mentioned before in my previous post, will be finishing builds for clients as soon as we get through with this move. If I manage to free up time between now and June to work on current builds I will definitely do that. In the meantime I appreciate everyone's patience with this professional transition for my full-time livelihood which is Comp-Cal.

I will post updates as I am able.
