Switch Automation

Switch Automation Founded in 2012, Switch Automation creates technology to bring people and planet to the center of building operations.

We understand that being truly green means understanding exactly how, when and where your home or building uses energy and we know that getting such detailed information can be difficult. Green Automation from Switch makes it easy, with real time energy data and monitoring for every room or device, to the hour, minute and second of the day. Using this data, you can pinpoint exactly how to tune you

r building to run at its most efficient, and over time your home will learn how to use less energy. Switch Green Building Dashboards and web-based Green Data Tools enable all users to get real value out of their Green Data – from property developers who assess the performance of their buildings, to property managers responsible for tuning a building to satisfy regulatory and tenant requirements. They also help home and building owners seeking the most energy efficient buildings to minimise energy costs and consumption levels. Our technology integrates a wide range of energy measuring devices, such as smart meters and renewable power sources, and provides local environmental information from weather stations and RSS feeds to put your green data into context.

Executives expect to be informed about the operations in a building.
They want simple answers to questions like:
--How is my building doing?
--What is the top priority we need to focus on?
--Where are the risks?
These questions have stayed the same over time, but it is getting more and more complex to deliver simple answers.

Meanwhile, middle-level stakeholders who are responsible for reports or projects slog through the complexity. They do the painful and time-consuming work to export data from multiple sources then manipulate it in a different tool like excel. They find a way to get it done.

Enterprises are investing in data science. They are investing in sophisticated technology. And they have highly capable people employed who can do the work to find actionable insights from the data.

We don't have a lack of skills in our industry. We don't have a lack of innovation. We don't have a lack of resources.
We DO have a data problem, though, and in order for our industry to rapidly adjust to environmental and social demands, we MUST solve this data problem.

Which is more powerful?
Large amounts of data or a clear, thought-out plan?

Imagine the advantage you would have with BOTH data AND a plan.

Over the holiday season, LastPass suffered a data breach. Think about that. The company that millions of people trust to protect their passwords was hacked.

This proves the question we should all be asking is not IF a data breach occurs, but WHEN.

A Data Breach Policy is must have for every company... even for the most secure. Make sure you are asking all of your and technology providers about their Data Breach Policies---including us.

Demand the companies you work with are prepared. The people using your buildings deserve to be protected.

We asked one of our customers: What do you want to get done in the last quarter of the year?

The reply: "I just want to know what’s in my buildings."

This conversation prevented one company from experiencing a possibly devastating data breach.

We ran our Dx3 digital building assessment across 47 buildings. This network scan takes less than 24 hours to find, assess, and report all the systems and devices on their networks.

· Thirty-two buildings were assessed as secure and ‘digital-ready’ for a smart building program targeting data-driven maintenance.

· Fourteen buildings lacked sufficient connectivity and system-readiness to harvest data but were otherwise secure.

· But one building was found to have a deployment of smart bathroom devices leftover from a previous pilot. These devices were connected to the internet but were not known to the building team. The devices had been deployed by previous teams and were not being monitored, posing a potential risk to data security.

One quick scan saved this team from the time- and money-consuming consequences of a data breach, yet it all started with one simple request. "Just tell me what I've got in my buildings."

Do you know what's in your buildings?
Isn't it time to find out?

Connected buildings are vulnerable to data breaches.

Historically the answer was to remain as disconnected as possible.

This can't continue to be a solution. There are better ways to protect our data while continuing to advance building technology. The cyber risk doesn't outweigh the benefits of connectivity, does it?

Let's chat about informed decision-making.
Traditionally individuals in real estate made procurement decisions based on relationships, price, and subjective beliefs. Not data.
As the industry changes, decisions must depend on objective analysis.

Leaders in the built world have been held back in their ability to make informed decisions because:
1. Siloed data is difficult to get into one place, making analysis difficult
2. Integrating proptech is perceived as slow and expensive
3. It is assumed it is easier to keep doing what you're doing rather than implement complex changes
4. Prioritization of capital spending is based on what was outlined in historical plans.
5. Up until now there was no urgency and little incentive to adapt
6.

What else?
