**PSA** for owners and property managers: Clarity is no longer recommending VIZIO TVs for rental properties. Newer VIZIO OS models now require a Walmart account for Smart TV functionality, which adds extra friction during setup and can create unnecessary confusion for guests. We’re always going to lean toward the simplest, most guest-friendly option

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned working in rental homes is that complexity is the enemy of reliability.
Every extra device, adapter, controller, or piece of equipment adds another possible failure point.
In a private home that may not matter much. But in a vacation rental, systems get used constantly by people who have never seen them before.
The goal is not to build the most complicated system.
The goal is to build something that works reliably for every guest who walks through the door.
Sometimes the best upgrade you can make is actually simplifying the system.

Guests never see this cabinet.
Inside are the pieces that quietly keep the house running — the internet connection, the Wi-Fi system, and the equipment that helps everything communicate.
When everything is working, nobody notices it.
But if the Wi-Fi drops, the TV won’t load, or the music stops playing outside, the guest doesn’t think about the equipment in the cabinet. They simply assume something is broken.
That’s why reliability matters so much in rental homes.

Some rental properties were built like a Ferrari behind the curtain.
Impressive when everything is perfect. Touchy when real life happens.

That may be fine for a specialty setup. It is not ideal for a busy rental home dealing with guest devices, resets, power blips, internet changes, and turnover stress.

A rental does not need a hidden Ferrari. It needs a dependable daily driver.
Guests never care what is in the closet. They care whether everything works.

Most guests will never see the network closet.
They will never know what brand of gear is in the rack, how much it cost, or how complicated it is behind the scenes.
They only know one thing: does the house work, or does it not?
That is why I keep saying rental properties do not need fragile systems dressed up as premium ones.
A lot of homes were sold setups that look impressive on install day, but are too sensitive for the real world of rentals. Power blips, modem swaps, guest devices, resets, and routine changes can turn a fancy system into a service call.
That is not the fault of the owner. It is not the fault of the property manager. And it is not the fault of the maintenance team.
The problem is when a system is too delicate for the job it is being asked to do.
A rental home does not need a hidden Ferrari. It needs something dependable that can take everyday use and keep going.
Going into spring break, reliability matters more than flash.

Hi everyone,

Clarity will be taking a scheduled break for the Christmas holiday from December 20th through December 27th. During this time we will not be available for onsite service.

I will be monitoring email, texts, and calls, but please expect delayed responses while we’re out of office. If anything urgent comes in, I’ll do my best to guide you remotely.

We’ll be back in full operation on Monday, December 28th, and will begin scheduling site visits as normal.
