Good design is about seeing things differently.

I repurposed an old rifle/gun rack I found at a local thrift shop into a display case for my uranium glass collection (the fact that uranium glass glows under a black light may explain a lot about my 1970s childhood, and why this makes me way happier than it probably should). What started as a small side project turned into a good reminder of how I approach design.

It wasn’t only about decoration — it was about changing the function first and letting the design follow.

Whether it’s a brand, a campaign, or a physical object, the same idea applies:
design isn’t always about starting from scratch — it’s about seeing what’s already there and making it better.

Excuse my profanity, but . . . WTF?!

Pantone just announced its 2026 Color of the Year: Cloud Dancer.
Call it whatever poetic name you want . . . it’s white. Plain, simple, crisp, bridal-dress white.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good black/white/grey moment as much as the next designer. But out of all the colors in the universe . . . white?

Here's a brief Pantone history:
1963: The first Pantone Matching System launched with roughly 500 colors.
2000: The library grew to about 1,114 colors.
Today: We’re sitting at around 2,300 PMS spot colors.

So out of 2,300 colors . . . why, oh why . . . white?

As a visual designer, that choice just doesn’t quite scratch the creative itch, in my humble (and slightly bewildered) opinion.

Everyone likes to have a good laugh.

Short video ads get attention, make people smile, and most importantly, can get your message across.

A different ad done once a month can make an impact and be used on several different platforms, as well as put on your web site.
