"For anyone wanting to contact their Congressman or Senator, here is a draft letter supporting expansion of PPP......Feel free to use it for your own letter....fill in the $$$$$$ with your own personal explanation.......
Dear Senator $$$$$$: May 27, 2020
This letter is to support the need for an expansion of PPP for small business.
$$$$$$$, Inc. is a family business in $$$$$$, where we employ about $$$$$ people. Our business is very capital intensive and we also have many regulatory demands that are on-going.
The economic collapse coming from state shutdowns has severely impacted demand for our products. Incoming orders March through May have come in at $$$$$$$ the normal rate.
The impact is that our revenues cannot come close to meeting our ongoing costs of operation. We have already been granted a PPP covering the period April 17 to June 12, 2020 and we are grateful for this protection of our cash-flow. It has allowed us to continue operations at a reasonable rate throughout the second quarter.
The problem comes once the third quarter starts, as we do not yet see any rebound in orders from our customer base. To continue our long term operation, we have a dedicated staff that needs to continue in our business…. Without revenue from sales, or another source, it will not be possible to fund this operation, and our likely alternative would be a large unnecessary reduction.
The original PPP seems to have worked, and therefore I am requesting that you expand this program into the second half of the year.
Sincerely,
$$$$$$$$
