In the quiet of winter, a creative storm is brewing.

Lol, jk.

I honestly just forgot to post anything, guys. Through the holidays and inevitable sickness that has hit our house, I’ve still been designing.

I have a finished portfolio ready to be sent out to art directors. I have hundreds of patterns and illustrations needing a home.

I’ve decided that the home for some graphics is on apparel and products. While I hustle for art licensing deals, I’m going to play around with the Etsy store.

And as always, if you need any custom art and graphics let a girl know! My goal is one creative endeavor a day! And I work at a sign shop y’all, I can basically make anything.

A pattern fondly named “Gracie” for this sweet bestie of mine. I am so proud of this design, and even prouder that I was able to sew Gracie her “Gracie” blankets in two different color ways.

Fun fact : I doodled the shape that created these flowers on a trip to celebrate Gracie’s uncle Dylan. On that trip I met Gracie in her mommy’s belly!

A peak at the first three design briefs as part of the course. We were given a theme, a color scheme, and products to design to. This was definitely a challenge, as it’s harder for me to design at someone else’s direction, but it’s such an important reminder that the work isn’t always going to be about what I want. The goal is to be able to design for a specific product and a specific consumer, and overall be marketable.

The cottage garden and chicken coop will evolve over the years, but I want to honor where we are right now. We have worked really hard to develop this space and as we head into the colder months I feel my focus shifting.

The seasons in New England are like a story book - each is about 3 months long and does what it’s supposed to do. Except this summer and all the rain - what the heck was that?!

I think life is like that. We shift our focus and change. Sometimes the seasons in our life are like a storybook, playing out as we think they should. and then other times we have a bit too much rain and most days we forget our umbrella.

The point is that nothing lasts forever - the good or the bad. Flowers die as the leaves start to change. Even gardeners look forward to fall in New England!

I have too much fun at work, honestly. I’m happy that I have a job that requires creative suite on my computer and a boss that lets me focus on “personal development” - which is what I say when I’m caught designing dog sweaters.
