Did you know the color of plastic makes a big difference in recyclability?

Plastic is one of the most versatile materials available to but one of the most difficult for communities to collect and recycle.

But the color of the plastic container can pose a problem.

Clear plastics are always preferred in the market, and have the highest material value. That’s because transparent plastic can usually be dyed with greater flexibility.

Sustainability is of growing importance to customers, and we think it's important to consider this when designing in plastic and whenever possible choose clear or white containers.

We partnered with Rhonda Klevansky, a visual storyteller and writer to create a pop-up exhibit to bring attention to the extent of hunger in Durham and those working to address the problem. These inspiring portraits show local folks who have responded to the crisis by supplying free food to those in need. They are among the many Durhamites who run food pantries, cook meals, and give away the vegetables, breads and dairy products they produce.

The multi-site, outdoor photography installation will be on view from May 21 – July 16 at:

Durham Arts Council

21c Museum Hotel

Bull McCabe’s Irish Pub

Durham Central Park

Museum of Durham History

Happy Halloween from Tattoo Hot Sauce!

Tattoo, a line of globally inspired hot sauces is “making its mark” on the grocery shelf. Creating the branding and package design for a new consumer brand is a perfect project for us and to see that new brand take wings in the marketplace is very exciting.

Hot sauce sales are growing quickly and the category has become super competitive with so many brands competing for shelf space and sales. And for most brands the package design is the primary marketing vehicle to win customers.

To make Tattoo’s package design stand out we used bold illustrations representing the tattoo artistry unique to the culinary cultures that inspired the sauces. The transparent labels let the rich color of each sauce shine through to appeal to consumers looking for authenticity and unique flavors.
