In the world of Indiana Jones, there are many dangers that can befall Indy. Likewise, in our world, there are many dangers that can befall your data! Your hard drive could crash, your computer could be stolen, or you could accidentally delete a file. That's why it's important to have a good data backup plan in place.
Just like Indiana Jones, you need to be prepared for anything. That's why I recommend following the 3-2-1 rule of data backup. This rule states that you should have:
- 3 copies of your data: This means having two copies of your data on different storage devices, and one copy offsite.
- 2 different storage types: This means having one copy of your data on an internal hard drive, and one copy on an external hard drive or cloud storage service.
- 1 copy offsite: This means having one copy of your data stored in a location that is different from your home or office.
By following the 3-2-1 rule, you can be sure that your data is safe and secure, even if something happens to your computer or your home.
Here are some Indiana Jones-inspired tips for backing up your data:
- Be prepared for the worst: Just like Indiana Jones, you never know what dangers you might face. That's why it's important to be prepared for anything when it comes to backing up your data. Have a plan in place and make sure you're backing up your data regularly.
- Never trust a single source: Just like Indiana Jones, you never know who you can trust. That's why it's important to never trust a single source when it comes to backing up your data. Always keep multiple copies of your data in different locations.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help: Just like Indiana Jones, you don't have to go it alone. If you need help backing up your data, we are here to assist you!
Backing up your data is important, but it doesn't have to be complicated. By following the tips in this blog post, you can be sure that your data is safe and secure, even in the face of danger.

In the world of Transformers, robots can transform into other objects, giving them the ability to adapt to any situation. In the world of computers, solid state drives (SSDs) can transform your computer's performance, giving it a new lease on life.

If you have a computer with a traditional hard drive, you know that it can be slow and sluggish. Booting up, loading programs, and transferring files can all take a long time. This is because hard drives have moving parts, which can cause them to slow down over time.

SSDs, on the other hand, have no moving parts. This makes them much faster than hard drives, and they can also last longer. In fact, SSDs are so fast that they can make your computer feel like it's brand new.

If you're thinking about upgrading your computer's hard drive to an SSD, here are a few of the benefits you can expect:

- Faster boot times: SSDs can boot up your computer in seconds, compared to minutes for a hard drive.
- Faster loading times: SSDs can load programs and files much faster than hard drives.
- More responsive: SSDs make your computer feel more responsive overall.
- Longer lifespan: SSDs can last much longer than hard drives.

If you're looking for a way to transform your computer's performance, upgrading to an SSD is a great option. With its speed, responsiveness, and durability, an SSD can give your computer a new lease on life. Let us know if you want an upgrade! We'll be happy to help!

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Guardians of the Galaxy are a team of misfits who come together to save the galaxy. But even the Guardians aren't immune to computer problems. In fact, in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Rocket Raccoon has to fix a motherboard issue on the Milano, the team's spaceship.

So what are some of the most common motherboard issues, and how can you fix them? Here's a look:

Overheating: This is one of the most common motherboard problems. Overheating can be caused by a number of things, including a lack of airflow, a faulty fan, or a power supply that's not powerful enough. If your motherboard is overheating, it will likely shut down your computer or cause it to run slowly.

Short circuit: A short circuit is a direct electrical connection between two conductors that shouldn't be connected. This can happen if there's a loose wire or if something conductive comes into contact with the motherboard. A short circuit can damage the motherboard and other components, and it can even cause a fire.

Bad capacitors: Capacitors are small electronic components that store electrical energy. Over time, capacitors can go bad and start to leak electricity. This can cause a number of problems, including system crashes, blue screens of death, and random reboots.

Damaged ports: The ports on your motherboard are used to connect peripherals like your keyboard, mouse, monitor, and printer. If one of these ports is damaged, it may not work properly or it may not work at all.

Here are some tips to help prevent motherboard problems:

Keep your computer clean: Dust and dirt can build up inside your computer and cause overheating. Make sure to clean your computer regularly with a can of compressed air.

Use a surge protector: A surge protector can protect your computer from power surges, which can damage the motherboard and other components.

Don't overclock your computer: Overclocking your computer can cause it to overheat and damage the motherboard.

Use a quality power supply: A good power supply will provide the right amount of power to your computer and help to prevent overheating.

By following these tips, you can help to keep your motherboard healthy and functioning properly. And who knows, you might even save the galaxy in the process!

A computer power supply is one of the most important components in your computer. It provides power to all of the other components in your computer, and if it fails, your computer will not work. Game over!

In Dungeons and Dragons, a critical component in your adventuring party is a reliable healer. Without a healer, your party will quickly succumb to the wounds of battle.

Your computer power supply is like your healer. There are a few common problems that can occur with computer power supplies. One problem is that the power supply may not be able to provide enough power to all of the components in your computer. This can cause your computer to slow down or even crash.

Another problem is that the power supply may not be able to provide a stable power supply. This can cause your computer to experience intermittent problems, such as random reboots or crashes.

If you are experiencing problems with your computer power supply, there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot the problem. First, you can check the power supply itself to see if it is damaged or faulty. If you find that the power supply is damaged, you will need to replace it.

If the power supply is not damaged, you can check the other components in your computer to see if they are drawing too much power. If you find that one or more components are drawing too much power, you can try to reduce the amount of power they are using.

Just like a healer, your computer power supply is a critical component in your computer. If you are still having problems with your computer power supply, reach out to us for help! We can help you diagnose any power supply issues, and recommend the correct PSU for your system!

Symptoms of hard drive failure can seem small before becoming a full-blown problem. Failing hard drive signs can be merely annoying at first, but if left unaddressed they can quickly destroy your data completely.

Here are the most common hard drive failure signs:
1. Overheating
2. Strange sounds
3. Corrupted data, files, and folders
4. Major slowdowns
5. Stuck spindle motor
6. Frequent error messages
7. System crashes
8. Blue Screen of Death
9. Bad sectors preventing data access
10. Failure of the system to boot

Disk fragmentation happens on hard disk drives too, so if you have an HDD try running a defrag tool, which will help with junkware removal (it’s like cleaning your hard drive’s closet). If your problems persist, your hard drive failure symptoms might be signaling real trouble.

It may be hard to tell if signs of a failing hard drive appear because of normal wear and tear — but if you wait, it might be too late. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, contact us! We can help you save your data and get a new solid state drive installed right away!

Is your computer starting to feel like it's running like a big, slow dinosaur? If you have a mechanical hard drive that is more than a few years old, it could be turning into an old fossil! Mechanical hard drives wear down over time due to the physical parts that are needed to move over and over to read and save your data. Because they can easily break, this puts your data at risk of being corrupted, or even worse: ending up in The Lost World. We highly recommend upgrading your computer with an SSD (a solid state drive). This will prolong the life of your computer, keep your data safe, and actually speed up your computer significantly! SSD prices are the lowest they have ever been, so contact us today and we'll be happy to help you get your computer upgraded out of the Jurassic Age!

The reality is, storage has never been more accessible, reliable and cheap. So there is no excuse these days NOT to back up your data. A true backup needs to follow the 3-2-1 rule. You will need at least 3 separate copies of your data. A separate backup folder (or two) where you copy your data satisfies this requirement. Keeping your data on the same medium is just asking for trouble. Instead, store your backups on 2 different mediums, like your computer, and portable, hard drive. This gives the additional benefits of some protection from events like Viruses, Malware, software errors, and hardware failures. Finally, your data is safest if you have 1 different location to store it. It is always possible a fire or flood could damage your storage devices at your location. Cloud storage is a reliable offsite location as cloud storage providers use enterprise grade redundancy and their own backups as well in order to provide a service that is trusted. If you need help setting up your own backup solution, ChrisTech would be happy to offer recommendations!

If you are noticing that your computer is running more slowly, it could be due to a couple of hidden maintenance issues. #1: Did you know that every application you set to run at start up will have to fully load before you can start using your Windows environment? If you have too many set to auto-load when the computer starts, you will see significant loading time. #2: Did you know that if you don't have the latest update for your applications, it could lead to slower load times? These updates can be critical for long-term health because they patch up critical security holes and remove unnecessary features. #3: Did you know that failing hardware can lead to slow startup times too? Mechanical parts can break down over time, including the hard drive, memory, and motherboard. Parts that aren't working correctly will reflect slower times when trying to run your applications. If you need help in getting your computer running faster and working more efficiently, give us a call today!

It's a good idea to occasionally go back and evaluate your privacy settings to make sure they're still right for you.

If you don't like how a particular site is using your information or if you've changed your mind about sharing certain aspects of your profile, then you can and should go back and update your privacy settings.

Social Media
Social Media sites allow you to choose who sees when you send messages, photos, videos, etc., and they also give you tools to manage how long those conversations stay stored on both of them.

Some social media sites also let you control whether people can “tag” you and your activities, and some let you review and approve tags first. Enable this setting, particularly if you do not want other people to share your activities and location with their contacts.

Online games
Players' personal information is being collected by online gaming companies, raising privacy concerns. Furthermore, profiles within gaming platforms are often linked to broader online social network sites or tied to your phone’s contact list. You can decide whether you are comfortable playing the game, and you can adjust your settings so that you are providing the least amount of information possible.

For most games, there should be options available to change information that could be used to identify you offline, such as your profile picture, display name, or location. Some games offer additional privacy controls through their own websites, which are worth looking into.

Your browser
If you don't set your privacy settings on your web browser, you are relying on default privacy settings that may not align with your privacy preferences. Review your privacy settings and adjust them if necessary. For example, if you're not comfortable with web tracking while doing some web activities, default privacy settings would not be sufficient to protect your privacy.

If you need help cleaning up your computer and setting your privacy settings, feel free to contact us! We are happy to help make your online experience the safest possible!
