Every ITAD RFP we see contains some version of the same line: "Vendor must be NIST SP 800-88 compliant."

For about a decade, that question resolved cleanly. It doesn't anymore.

NIST published Revision 2 of SP 800-88 in September 2025 and withdrew Revision 1 the same day. R2v3 — the certification most enterprises rely on to vet an ITAD vendor — still explains its data sanitization requirements by reference to Revision 1.

That isn't a scandal. Standards bodies revise on independent cycles, and some lag is normal.

But it does mean "R2v3 certified" and "NIST 800-88 compliant" have stopped being two ways of saying the same thing. A yes to that question tells you less than it used to.

On Wednesday, the Vibrant Technologies team came together at our global headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, for our quarterly Sales Summit—a day focused on collaboration, sharing ideas, and aligning on how we can continue delivering exceptional service and value to our customers.

After a productive day of team meetings and presentations, we capped things off with a Minnesota Twins game and dinner together.
