Our volunteer events at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB) brought together teams of volunteers for meaningful time of service. The groups began with a tour of the facility, gaining insight into the incredible impact BRAFB has across the region, providing essential support to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Volunteers then worked together to bag fresh produce, which was eventually added to food boxes for those in need.

The experience highlighted just how critical volunteer support is to BRAFB’s mission. BRAFB staff shared that volunteer contributions like ours help the organization operate efficiently and prevents the need to hire up to 19 full-time employees, allowing more resources to be directed toward serving the community. The Glo Fiber team was proud to volunteer with Power Packs Project in Lancaster, PA , where a group of our employees, guided by the Shentel Cares Committee, worked together to make a difference. The team packed a variety of food items for local children and families. Power Packs serves children and families in the greater Lancaster, Lebanon, and York areas and is continuing to expand their support to those communities. They've provided around 1 million meals over the past two years with a staff of 7 and the help of many, many volunteers. We also presented them with a check for $4000 from our Summer Backpack donation program on June 10th. We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with local organizations to help fight food insecurity and give back to the communities we serve.
