This is how the magic begins....with a simple request...
"Good morning RitzPrintz and Happy New Year! (Jan 2026)
I am currently writing my student's IEP for the upcoming year and have been brainstorming ways to assist them in being more successful with her AAC device. I was wondering if you could make a key guard on her device to help increase her accuracy in choosing icons? She often just hits the icon in the middle (βgoβ on her device) and I think a key guard could help with her fine motor and differentiation when selecting icons. She currently has a 5x5 grid so it would be a key guard for Wordpower 25. Please let me know your thoughts and I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!

RitzPrintz:
Ok, folks.....let's get started on the sketches and rough ideas.
The tools we'll use today are the following:
We start with Photoshop/Canva, then Blender/Fusion, then MeshMixer, then MakerStudio.
That's our workflow for this build.
------------------------
What we're designing:
A keyguard for the AAC app TouchChat with WordPower on an iPad 10 or 11. Designed to be used with a rubber or foam handle case. Used to isolate icons on an AAC device leading to fewer miss-hits and clearer communication.
We believe that by building this iPad keyguard, Melissa's student will help increase her accuracy in choosing icons much quicker leading to enhanced communication and improved fine motor skills.
Thank you, Melissa for this awesome request!!
We LOVE projects like this and are ready for the challenge.
