In recent weeks we have seen an increase in computers coming in for phishing scam attempts from fake online support reps. A common source we find is through Facebook/social media sites and online printer support assistance. Unfortunately, there is no software than can totally and fully stop all phishing style scams but being as educated as possible is the best way to spot a scam before its too late. For online web-browsing we recommend using either Firefox or Google Chrome with 2 small software extensions called Privacy Badger and Ublock Origin. These small apps help block known insecure websites and trackers. For printer support our local shop can offer basic printer-computer setup/troubleshooting. Apple iPhone offers an alternative simplified version of the interface rather than the standard one we normally see and use. This feature is called Assistive Access. On-screen items are much bigger making them easier to see and interact with while using the iPhone. Below is a link to Apple's website with more information. Set up Assistive Access on iPhone for a family member or someone you care for and customize it so that it works best for them.

Starting this month Google will no longer be providing support for Gmailify and POP email service in Gmail. Both of these services were linked to third-party email accounts that could be viewed and provide features in Gmail. Read the info the link below for steps to be taken if needed. Give us call if you have questions or need assistance with the Gmail change.

Windows 10 support ends on October 14, 2025

If your PC hardware cannot support Windows 11 your Windows 10 computer will still run but with many downsides such as a lack of security support. We offer Windows 11 capable PCs here at our shop if needed.

This week Apple released macOS Tahoe for Mac devices. Our usual recommendation is wait on installing the upgrade as bugs and glitches tend to be common once an OS is open to the public, around 6 (six) months is good. If you do choose to upgrade be sure to make a backup of your data first. Here is a list of compatible devices per apple.com.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Earth Day event at MacRevival! We weren’t sure what to expect, but thanks to over 140 people, over 400 old devices were collected and responsibly recycled.
