Telecom Field Inspector Part Time (Coaching available)

Job Description:
We are urgently seeking a candidate for Field Inspector (Part-Time/Intermittent) for OSP underground and aerial construction. This position will require travel within Texas. You will be responsible for inspecting active construction, construction safety, and ensuring construction is to specification of engineering prints/ standards of the municipality. Chief engineer will be contacted regularly to discuss beforehand any possible change and or to update on progress.

The ideal candidate must have a complete understanding of field inspecting and telecom OSP construction principles, work order procedures, telephone industry standards and comply with the latest revisions of any relevant Safety Codes, Electric Codes, Customer practices and procedures, local and governmental jurisdiction and instructions supplied by Customer, and is flexible with intermittent work. If entry level, with coaching you will have a complete understanding of field inspecting and telecom OSP construction principles, work order procedures, telephone industry standards and comply with the latest revisions of any relevant Safety Codes, Electric Codes, Customer practices and procedures, local and governmental jurisdiction and instructions supplied by Customer.

The ability to manage project deadlines and deliverables is essential. Must be a self- starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, goal driven, have an exceptional client service attitude, as well as strong organization, communication, computer, and document coordination skills.

Essential Job Functions:
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• ROW and easement verification
• Identifying existing and underground utilities
• Verifying distances and invoicing
• Coordinating with all construction managers to reach goal in a timely manner
• Identify safety violations and implementing corrective action
• Effectively communicate with client and construction teams
• Conduct Inventories of materials
• Confirming all work has been fulfilled to the expectation’s set by client and chief engineer
• Basic knowledge of Google earth.


Prior Experience & Education:

*Strong Computer skills is a must. (MS Office products to include Outlook, Word and Excel)

Any prior experience with the following is a plus:

Two (2) plus years’ experience of Telecom field inspecting

Experience with direct bore and aerial fiber optic construction

Experience with GIS, google earth, and GPS mobile devices

OSP experience to identify existing underground utilities (based on above ground utilities like gas valves, water valves, hydrants, pedestals, etc)

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus

Valid Driver License

Own Vehicle

*Must be willing to travel within Texas if needed.

Skills and Abilities:
• Good decision making, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to meet critical due dates.
• Ability to complete tasks on own with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines
• Excellent organization, time management and follow up skills.
• Excellent interpersonal communications skills including a proven ability to listen understand and articulate successfully.
