Dormant Phoenix

Dormant Phoenix A group of dedicated professionals that do what it is they love in a stable and safe environment, while building a solid foundation and an impressive resume.

Our mission statement:

As a theater company, and as individuals, Dormant Phoenix will work to cultivate a strong and diverse artistic community by focusing on three key areas of growth: theological diversity, cultural diversity, and building the accessibility of the arts. We will pursue theological diversity through engagement with leaders and members of the religious community of Erie and greate

r Northwestern Pennsylvania. We will pursue cultural diversity by presenting a wide variety of shows which offer opportunities for representatives of all of the cultures which make our region unique. Finally, we will expand the accessibility of the arts by presenting theatrical opportunities to individuals with an array of physical and cognitive capabilities, and presenting high quality shows in facilities which enrich the artistic experience through multimedia tools and audience engagement. Dormant Phoenix is a group of theatrical artists actively involved in fostering a COMMUNITY - after all, as Thomas Jefferson said, "A candle loses nothing of itself in lighting another candle". Our first season is packed with entertaining modern work. It will be enjoyable AND thought-provoking. Feel free to use this page to ask questions, get to know us, and see if you'd like to be involved.

It's just a shame, you know? We never thought there'd be....ordinariness, you know? Blatant apathy. I mean almost aggressive apathy.

May we hold lovingly in our thoughts / those who suffer from tyranny, subjection, cruelty, and injustice, / and work every day towards the alleviation of their suffering.

May we recognize our solidarity / with the stranger, outcast, downtrodden, abused, and deprived, / that no human being be treated as "other," / that our common humanity weaves us together / in one fabric of mutuality, / one garment of destiny.

May we pursue the Biblical prophet's vision of peace, / that we might live harmoniously with each other / and side by side, / respecting differences, / cherishing diversity, / with no one exploiting the weak, / each living without fear of the other, / each revering Divinity in every human soul.

May we struggle against institutional injustice, / free those from oppression and contempt, / act with purity of heart and mind, / despising none, defrauding none, hating none, / cherishing all, honoring every child of God, every creature of the earth.

May the Jewish people, the state of Israel, and all peoples / know peace in this New Year, / And may we nurture kindness and love everywhere.

There is, and as far as I have been able to determine, always has been a problem with reviews of community theater productions. While the quality of the productions under scrutiny can vary widely from very, very good to very, very bad, community theater reviews always seem to err on the side o

Rest in peace, Chris Cornell.

The music of Audioslave was an indelible source of inspiration for this company before there even was a Dormant Phoenix. Back when there was only a group of kids, the script of Talk Radio, a yearning to create, and a touch of fire. Audioslave provided our intros, outros, and bumps. They helped us find character and purpose, within that first show and in response to everything that came after.

Chris Cornell was a once-in-a-generation talent, a singular voice, and the world is lessened by his loss.

Our thoughts are with his wife, family, confederates, and friends.

Audioslave live debut on November 25, 2002, performing a concert on the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway. http://twitter.com/TheGrungeScene
