SSANotifications®

Do not open or click on anything in the email
Think before you click.

The SSA says they never send unsolicited email or text messages demanding immediate action, payments, or downloads—especially links or attachments. Instead, legitimate communications are typically by U.S. mail or through your official SSA account. 
• The SSA Office of the Inspector General (OIG) warns of “government imposter” schemes where criminals send emails that look like they come from the SSA, asking recipients to download software or pay to correct an alleged problem. 
• If the “SSANotifications®” message uses a non-“.gov” email domain, or starts with a generic greeting like “Dear Citizen,” or uses urgent threatening language (e.g., “Your SSN will be suspended”), those are classic red flags. For example, one Reddit discussion:
“Ssa only sends emails from a .gov email address. It’s absolutely a scam …”
