Just a little cuteness for your morning ๐.
Tommy had a cryfest yesterday for the first time ever and it was *rough*.
๐ Reliving the challenging baby moments while managing my business has 100% reminded me to become solution oriented so I can better assist VAs in the Lovable VA Academy who also have babies. Babies have no real schedule, no dependable emotional state due to the developmental phases that they go through, and sometimes just donโt want to be put down - even the generally even tempered ones.
๐ซ Working to be reliable as a virtual assistant or agency owner is not easy when you have such an unpredictable (squishy, adorable, captivating) being in your care.
And although we are getting a nanny shortly, I know a lot of LVAA students will not have the financial ability to hire in-home help. When I started as a VA with my first son, I was with him 24/7 until he started kindergarten, much of that time as a single mom, and with my second, he was over a year old before he started, so I get it. It was *really* hard to justify the cost of daycare and was a huge leap for me. It felt *very* strange to pay strangers to watch my son, but it was good for him to socialize and have some differentiation and engagement in his day while I grew Pink Elephant.
Back to yesterday โฆ. we got it all sorted out and he was happy in the afternoon and my partner took over so I could catch up, but geez was it a rough morning with no naps and full on crankiness which was very uncharacteristic for him. I walked my 10k steps by noon trying to soothe him ๐. Slight win!
โWhat are your biggest questions as I add childcare/work balance suggestions to the Academy? Iโd love to be aware so I can share what has and has not worked for me. Weโre all a little different in our family dynamics and needs so I donโt promise a quick and easy solution, but I am in the process of making lists and content for a variety of solutions that you can use to test out a method that works for you.
