I recently submitted this photo to a peer reviewing contest for lighting. I liked the way it appears as if the child's face was illuminated by the mother's gaze. This photo is currently placing in the top 50% ahead of 6733 other entries.

Your head shot should say a bit more than "look at my face." It should show a window into a bit of who you are. Give them a bit more personality and a little less flat-ness of view. You may be a professional in your field, but you are the person behind that talent. Show it in your new professional headshot.

The Woodburn Dragstrip has several events throughout the year. This one is where they bring out the old style dragsters to rip down the strip again. This is the 60th anniversary of the dragstrip so I went to old clippings of newspapers and different chat forums to find old images from the time. The car, the starter and the tower are all from historic photographs from the early 60s. The final art dropped the red in exchange for a mustard yellow for the final presentation on black shirts. Find more screen printable car show and hot rod t-shirt art in the design section of the Blue Moose Graphics site. For the designs you want to wear, see the Moose.

The Saltar House in Castlecraig, Australia, is one of the few houses designed by Mahony that is still standing and has been restored. You would think that being Frank Lloyd Wright's earliest protégé; the woman behind so many of most of the iconic drawings to come out of his practice; might just g

In Ulaanbaatar one of the world's largest dumps has a flurry of activity early in the morning. Kids sorting trash. Some actually live in the dump while others spend most of their day digging through the trash instead of going to school. But that isn't the last of this story...

Where have we been?

I think back on the fact we have been in isolation and uncirculated for an entire year. A year without seeing new faces nor reconnecting with the old. The places we have loved and would love to see. What are some of the places you have missed in the last year? Share some of those moments and get ready to go find them soon.

Classes are more than just books and rules. There is an element of emotional support that we seem to know we can get from our mothers, grannies, aunties and sisters. It has been called a silent strength, but I think it was a man that said that. Their silent strength is a fierce roar that makes the weak wither and even the strongest pause.

This was a teacher providing just a little emotional support at school. I later learned it was her son. She says he comes to see her like this about once a day just know that everything is all right then he heads back to class.

Do it like this.

I like the way mom is guiding her daughter in the ways of socialization in this photo. Mom sets the example and directs all at the same time. To me, this represents the way women have historically shaped and cultivated families, communities and cultures. Though men seem to pronounce their directives and dominance, it is the women of the society that effectively made it work.
