The Granted House of Hope is a 4.5 year old dream that became a reality before our eyes due to the hard work and imaginations of some amazing folks I’m proud to know.
If you aren’t familiar with Granted, they grant wishes for chronically/terminally ill children. They’re like Wish Upon a Star, but local, which gives them a better opportunity to know the children and families personally and make connections to local resources and people who can help.
This brand new purple house is a wonderland for children, with sensory rooms, play spaces, quiet spaces, a big playground, mini amphitheater, indoor castle, book nook, and more, and it’s located off of Oak Hill Road.
I got to hear about this project at the beginning and was commissioned to create a fundraising brochure for this campaign, and holy smokes, they raised a LOT of money in a short amount of time for this project. Susan Washburn (Granted Director) and Jeff Purdue are forces and just very special people who spearheaded this project.
Once the money was raised and the project broke ground, it was time to start thinking of how to honor all the folks who contributed to the project, and there were A TON of people to thank because so many people helped out in big ways. So we were then commissioned to create donor art and wall graphics! People who helped build the space are all over the building, inside and out.
I was happy to have Morgan along during her time at Sprout to assist with the signage as well! We had fun working on this together. And we’re proud to have had a small roll in such a massive, important project for the tristate.
Congratulations, Granted! We’re loving that hope has a home. 💜
