Hello everyone, we will meet tomorrow in the mac lab (Forcina 403) for our workshop on webscraping with python. We will create a python webscraper that scrapes Craigslist and we will use python 2.7. Please come with python installed already on your own machine along with pip and the requests library. If you run into any trouble, we can help, but try to have it all installed beforehand. ***Be sure to bring your own laptop if possible since we do not have the permissions to install the necessary libraries on the lab computers. Thanks and see you all tomorrow.

Hi everyone, right after Wednesday's meeting we tallied the results of the poll for next week's tutorial. The popular choice was webscraping with python so we will be doing a full tutorial on that. Here are the all-inclusive poll results:

Hello everyone and happy holidays! I wanted to share this conference with you all. WECode (Women Engineers Code) is a collegiate conference that focuses on promoting diversity within Computer Science. It's a great networking event and it's open to anyone regardless of gender. I will be driving up there with a friend or two and am willing to take as many as can fit in my car. Tickets are on sale now for $40, and there are scholarships available to cover the cost if you can't afford it. Check it out and feel free to ask me any questions about the conference! http://www.wecodeharvard.com/

On a separate note: Here are some wise (paraphrased) words from one of my role models, Brian Bi, on being thankful for being in this great field:
“Be grateful that you are a software engineer or a computer scientist and that it is easy for you to find a job while many others struggle. Be grateful that you can get a job that pays well with only a bachelor's degree, maybe even no degree at all. Be grateful that tech companies treat their employees so well in comparison to many other companies. Being grateful gives you happiness for free…

In many ways, life sucks. If you are a software engineer or a computer scientist, your career---one of the most important components of your life---sucks a lot less than average. Be grateful and don't take it for granted… show your gratitude to yourself by staying sharp, learning as much as you can, and making the most of your experience as a software engineer, so you can stay competitive---or else you may regret it later.”

Hello everyone, I have two announcements. We have been asked to help with the Celebration of Computing on Dec. 3rd by providing games for us to play. Please message me, or comment below, if there is any game (video game or board game) that you would like to bring. We would greatly appreciate it! The second announcement is that there will no ACM meeting this week since we're off for Thanksgiving. =) Have a nice break!

Hi all. We will be meeting tomorrow at 2:30pm in the Mac Lab. We will have a fun pair programming session, so bring your favorite coding buddy! See you all there.

Hello ACMers, tomorrow's meeting will be in the Mac Lab at 2:30pm. We will discuss Microsoft Developer Tools and potential hacks that we can make using those tools. As many of you know, we are currently discussing HackTCNJ sponsorship with Microsoft but they want us to give them a clear plan of how we're going to use their technology at HackTCNJ. This meeting is important because we need your ideas and feedback in order to make a strong case to Microsoft this Friday. See you all tomorrow!
