Solano Signs is currently seeking a part time to full-time skilled sign maker and installer to work in our production department. We are looking for people with high integrity and who are self-starters. Teamwork and the ability to work with tight deadlines is a must. You should have the ability to lift 50 lbs and be able to work on ladders, in bucket rucks and confined spaces as required for some jobs. Night and Weekend work on occasion – Most days will be Monday-Friday.
As a Production Specialist, you will be responsible for all aspects of the physical production of signs, which includes preparing substrates and applying vinyl according to written instructions and under general direction. You must also mount and/or laminate prints, proofread signs, and conduct quality assurance to ensure the efficient production of quality, accurate signs. The ideal candidate is a creative, self-motivated team player who can work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and who is determined to make every project his or her absolute best.
This is not an assembly line position.
Job Duties
- Read detailed work orders, select the correct material/substrate (substrate training provided) and accurately cut to size
- Ability to assess each and every job for obstacles and work with the team to brainstorm the best approach.
- Lay down vinyl or other prints onto substrate and/or use laminator to finish the product
- Learn and understand printer and other production equipment for their capabilities or limitations
- Assure a quality finished product.
- Maintain profitability with effective use of materials and avoiding costly reprints.
- Perform installations as needed at customer locations, presenting yourself as a professional
- Monitor print jobs on pc queue, load materials
Essential Skills
- Ability to measure with extreme precision ensuring straight lines, centering and placement
- Ability to use table saws, cutters and other fabrication tools.
- Must speak clear, concise English with better than average spelling skills to proofread work orders and communicate on outside installations.
The ideal candidates have a good artistic eye, great craftsmanship and high level of attention to detail.
Requirements: Candidates must have a valid current driver's license, reliable means of transportation. Candidates must have a minimum of a high school diploma and be able to pass a drug test.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers and fractions and converting fractions to decimals and vice versa)
-Able to work well under pressure to output high volume, high quality work
-Able to stand for long periods of time
-Able to lift 50 or more pounds
-Basic understanding of 120V electrical
-Digging, foundation and trench work as necessary
-Must have the flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back forth hand motions to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate
-Able to use power equipment
