There are serious U.S. government sanctions that affect DeepCool’s ability to operate in the United States; the company was sanctioned for alleged sales to Russian entities, which could halt U.S. business, distribution, and customer support for DeepCool products.

Avoid buying DeepCool products in the U.S. for now and plan for alternatives for future builds; if you already have their hardware, document serials and receipts and consider non-DeepCool spare parts and service channels for long-term reliability.

As temperatures rise during the summer months, laptops can experience several adverse effects. Here are some key points:

Thermal Stress: Laptops generate heat during operation, and high ambient temperatures exacerbate this. Overheating can lead to reduced performance, unexpected shutdowns, and even hardware damage.
Battery Impact: Heat affects lithium-ion batteries, causing them to degrade faster. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can shorten a laptop’s battery lifespan significantly.
Component Warping: Extreme heat can cause plastic components to warp or distort. This may affect the laptop’s structural integrity and lead to issues with hinges, ports, or the display.
Dust Accumulation: Dust particles accumulate more readily in warm environments. Dust buildup inside a laptop can clog fans and vents, hindering proper cooling.
Screen Glare and Sun Exposure: Direct sunlight on a laptop screen can make it difficult to see, leading to eye strain. Additionally, prolonged sun exposure can cause screen discoloration or damage.
To mitigate these effects, keep your laptop in a cool, well-ventilated area, avoid direct sunlight, and periodically clean dust from vents and fans.

WHEN SHOULD I BUY A NEW COMPUTER?

The decision to replace your computer depends on several factors, including performance issues and additional functionality features. Here are some guidelines to consider:

Performance Decline: If your computer struggles to keep up with tasks or feels sluggish, it might be time for an upgrade. Consider whether it falls significantly below your requirements.

Age of Components: The age of your computer’s components matters. Some systems can last longer if they were built with high-quality parts. For instance, a well-maintained PC with an overclockable CPU, ample RAM slots, and a capable power supply can endure for years.

Budget and Needs: Evaluate your budget and needs. If your current system can’t handle your workload or if you’re missing out on essential features, it’s time to consider a replacement.

Total Cost of Ownership: Studies suggest replacing computers at least every four years to balance performance, cost, and longevity. However, some enthusiasts follow the “ten-year rule”: if any part of your computer is more than a decade old, it’s time to replace it.
Remember that software issues can also impact performance. Before opting for a new computer, troubleshoot software-related problems. If your system feels slow during everyday tasks, consider investigating software conflicts or performing a clean OS reinstall.

SPILL DAMAGE: "I only spilled a little."

We've been seeing a lot of laptops with spill damage lately. Most of our customers are bringing their laptops in with intermittent power issues, not turning on, or shutting off at random. Upon inspection we often notice discolorations associated with dried liquid. We then ask, "Did you spill some kind of liquid on your laptop?" The reply is often, "Yes, but that was weeks ago. It's been running fine until now." Of course it'll run fine until corrosion sets in and destroys the motherboard, which can sometimes take weeks.

The biggest mistake people make after a spill is trying to turn the computer back on to see if it will start. Laptops shutting down from a spill is a safety mechanism. Turning it back on shorts out the electronics and damages the system.

Our advice is to turn off the computer, if it hadn't already done so, remove the wall power, battery if possible, and bring the computer to us as soon as you are able. This could mean the difference between a $50 repair and a $500 repair.
