Hey North Central MA! .ma is still on today, just a bit of a rain delay! We’re set up, and ready to rock ‘n’ roll. Come through and see us! Tickets are just $20 at the gate, and the party goes til 9 PM. It looks like the rain will be gone before 3, but bring a coat because it’s a bit chilly.

We’ve got team members ready to tell you all about the co-op revolution we’re kicking off in MA this year, starting with affordable, community-minded cell service you can own.

We’ve got info handouts, stickers, homemade bracelets for new Member-Owners, and a couple of sweet drawings to enter.

It’s gonna be hard to be away for a week, and I haven’t had a single second this week to make and schedule content in advance. I know the algorithm might punish us for that, but I believe that all our new followers can keep up the work of spreading the word while I’m gone!

And I know that the other Old Growth worker-owners will be hard at work preparing for some events local to our area, getting our website rebuilt to reflect the real scope of the project, and preparing our infrastructure for mass member intake!

I’ll see you all on the other side with some more memes and project updates!

Old Growth Co-op is an act of economic rebellion, and rebellions are built on hope.

It’s not going to be easy to build a cell service co-op to allow working class Americans to reclaim the wealth we’re forced to spend month after month, year after year, into the pockets of the Empire (Wall Street corporations and their shareholders).

But we have hope:
- hope that the people will see the value of this project and invest
- hope that our vision of developing a democratic economy WILL work
- hope that other parallel projects like .0 Spirit Airlines co-op bid and ’s Letterboxd co-op bid, and values-aligned influencers will unite with us to launch a cooperative mass movement.
- hope that you’ll like, share, and follow from this post to get that started!

Hi, neighbors! Four of our worker-owners have just been approved for permits to canvass door to door raising awareness and promoting our upcoming co-op cell service!

Starting this week, we will be doing some local door-to-door information sharing about our co-op and the upcoming mobile phone service. We know that some people have had negative experiences with unpermitted, pushy, or after-hours solicitors, and we won't be contributing to that strife. In addition to following all city regulations for canvassing, we plan to just briefly share what we're doing and give an opportunity to ask any questions before continuing on our route.

Our only regret is that the commissioners’ familiarity with our team and project at the License Commission meeting tonight prevented an opportunity to speak what we’re doing into the public record!

We live and work in Fitchburg too, and value our community connections. Meghan, Tristan, Andrew, and Chris can’t wait to meet you!

"On May 4th, international Star Wars Day (may the 4th be with you!), I flippantly made a meme to post on the Old Growth socials. It was the scene from Rise of Skywalker (my least favorite Star Wars film, by the way) where the Final Order fleet has been launched to conquer the galaxy, and suddenly thousands of small ships show up and start wrecking the bad guys. A Star Destroyer captain says something to the effect of, “where did they get all these fighter craft? They don’t have a navy.” His first officer replies, “It’s not a navy, sir. It’s just… people.”

My first time seeing that film, two hours into the most disappointing cinema experience I’ve ever had, that scene struck me. Set at the climax of the rotten output of corporate takeover of a beloved film franchise, it captures the essence of the best revolutionary movements. They’re just people, united despite often-stark differences in a common cause. And that scene has stayed in my head through the foundational years of Fitchburg Fiber and the beginnings of the Old Growth project. I knew I’d use it someday to communicate the essence of what we’re building..."

My fellow ants, I return to you once more to expose the reality that we Americans are sending over $166 *BILLION* a year of our hard-earned money to Wall Street and the E*stein class when we buy our cell service directly from big telecom.

We’ve discovered a way to get service at wholesale rates from the national carriers, cut out the inefficiency and bloat of the executives, lobbyists, and middle managers, and funnel profits into building sovereign, community-owned infrastructure for a better future for our communities!
